She turned red, though she couldn't feel it, remembering exactly what had happened to her, "I-I don't really like them either..." she said slowly, afraid of saying more. She was more afraid of angering her trigger-happy spirit guide than of letting someone know exactly what had happened, though both sent a chill through her spine. "but, um," she hesitated, trying to think, "I like Science and Magic though, but we never get enough lessons on it, and they all seem to be pointless experiments."

Lily-mae nodded her head and looked as though in deep thought for a few seconds. "My grandmother was teaching me hands on magic before I got summoned here," she said, "they don't practice that here, do they? Just the theory I am guessing." She tilted her head to the side as if confused by this fact. How could they learn anything if they did not try to do it?

She frowned and shook her head, realising just how new she was to the school, "Well, no. I mean, they don't practise Necromancy because it's immoral and people get hurt," she said those words with a frightening certainty, almost as if she was telling someone off. "But other lessons we practice." she told her with a shrug.

Lily-mae nodded her head and bite her lip, "Sorry. I was beginning to think that they didn't practice things here. I just overheard some girls talking about not being able to practice anything in class. Perhaps I mistook them for being older than they are." Her voice was apologetic.

She shook her head and put a hand on Lily's knee, assuring her, "It's alright, I didn't have a clue when I first came here either. I mean, when my mum was here they were still practicing Necromancy, and half of the things she told me about weren't allowed anymore." she said, smiling softly. Being able to talk about her mother was strange, and easier than she had expected. "You're lucky you were taught before you came here; I knew nada."

Lily-Mae smiled at what Diane had said. She was relieved not to have offended her. "It still feels like I know nothing," she said with a laugh, "I really like the school so far and the people. My dorm rooms lonely though. Just myself and books. It's weird." She moved her purse to her lap and started bring out the books she had picked up from the list the professors had given her the day before. "I hope these are all the books that I need," she frowned. She had forgotten to write them down and instead relied on memory. She couldn't help, but feel as though she was missing a book.

She looked at her, suddenly realising that she still hadn't taken her hand off her knee. She pulled it off as subtley and quickly as she could, her face burning red as she tried to finish the conversation, "Oh, well if you ever need company then feel free to come around to mine place. We have a spare bed for some reason, I think someone might have left or got kicked out or something..." she told her with a shrug. "I'm sure my roommate won't mind."

Lily-Mae hadn't noticed that Diane had left her hand on her knee. Instead she was going over and over the list of books she thought that she needed. Worst came to worst she would be yelled at for forgetting a book and she would have to get it later today. Either way, she was good at defusing people.
Diane's offer of the spare bed in her room brought her back to reality. She immediately brightened up, "Wow. You don't mind and you don't think your roomie would either? Thank you so much. It means a lot to me." She smiled and sighed in relief. Then her eyes widened, "I forgot to get the potion book. I would have ended up having to guess in class and would have wound up with green hair again." She brought her hand to her head and laughed at herself.

She laughed and shook her head, reassuring her once more, "Hey, you know that you worry way too much, yeah?" she said, looking through the books, "Listen, there's far more books there then I've ever read in my life; most of the teachers set books so they don't have to worry if their teaching's really bad, which it isn't. If you forget anything, just go to library, most of the books never leave and it's open all night." she told her, hoping that her words could help.

Lily-Mae smiled, "I was worried I would end up with green hair again." She patted her hair and was grateful it was still blonde and brown. She packed her books back up and leaned back against the wall. A painting in front of them caught her attention. it was a painting of a woman who was very pale. She was wearing a very old ballroom style dress. The painting was dark. The only thing that seemed to pop from the painting was a pair of haunting yellow eyes. She tilted her head to the side when she had past this painting earlier the eyes were a dark green. Now, it felt like the girl was staring at her, trying to get inside her mind. She shook her head gently and cast the thought from her mind.
"Thank you again, Diane," she said as she turned away from the painting. She could still feel the eyes, but ignored it. "So who are the cute guys here," she said with a laugh.

She laughed, and said, "You know, I don't know if this is related but I heard that swimming pools makes your hair go green if there's too much copper in them. I think one of the plants has some of that in it, doesn't it...?" she asked, suddenly remembering. Science made so much more sense to her then magic ever could.
"As for cute guys," she took in a deep breath, getting ready to tell her the truth, "Quite frankly, all the decent ones are gay. Or as good as. But then, that's just what I think, and I've always been one for the effeminate type." she told her, smiling at her.

Lily-Mae nodded her head, "Your right. I probably put too much of the plant in it." She laughed and glanced at the painting again. The eyes were back to normal. The emerald she had remembered instead of the haunting yellow eyes. She shifted in her chair slightly, listening as Diane went on about the boys here. "Sounds like no fun to me," she said with a pouty face.

She nodded slowly, "Yup, you have no idea what it's like to always feel like Grace out of Will & Grace... You know the one?" she asked, not sure if her analogy even made sense.
She followed her eyes, noticing that they kept flickering back to the painting on the wall. "Something wrong?" she asked, looking between the seemingly normal painting and Lily-Mae.

"Yes, I know the show," Lily-Mae said seemingly perplexed. She turned her head towards the painting than to Diane. "That painting of the woman," she replied," when we past it earlier it had emerald eyes, than a couple of minutes ago it had awful yellow eyes that wanted to bear into my mind, and now they are emerald. I probably sound nuts." She shook her head and turned back to Diane.

Diane turned to the painting, watching it closely, and giving Lily-Mae a funny look as she explained it. "This isn't Harry Potter, you know. We don't have living pictures." she said, but then frowned, "Or at least I think we don't..." she said, looking at the picture again. It was starting to creep her out. "Maybe it's like Ghostbusters with that picture that frowns!" she joked again, hiding the fact that she was slightly worried. There was so much she didn't understand about the school, and she didn't intend on finding out.
