She looked confused, turning back to her page as she thought over what he had meant. It took her a few minutes for him to realise that he was comparing it to books, rather than real life or films. Was he really so lonely that he didn't have any real life things to compare it to? Diane did her questions very slowly from then on, giving Maon a chance to be with her. Even if he didn't know it, she thought it would benefit him to be around someone.
"Yeah, your right." she said, "I mean, if you read ones for girls they tend to be that they make all the mistakes and are shy and everything. Ones for guys tend to be the opposite. I guess they're just trying to appeal to their readers, telling them 'Its OK, you'll get a boyfriend/girlfriend soon enough!'"

Maon nodded, not looking away from his book. "Exactly." He mumbled. It wasnt often that he found somebody who actually understood what they were reading. Most of the time he met people who pretty much forgot what they were reading while they read, and it got very annoying.

She sighed, leaning back on her seat. It was obvious that she wasn't going to get much more of a conversation out of him while he was so engrossed in his book, and she was beginning to feel guilty for sitting next to him at all. She tapped her paper with her pen, an annoying habit she did when she was thinking, though she wasn't thinking about her homework anymore. She was thinking of a way to get him to talk, to actually interact with people without a book in the way.
"Hey, are you doing anything tonight? Fancy coming to the Heron? You've probably seen the posters everywhere... you don't have to dress up, just come along," she said, supposing that he would be a completely different person with a little liquid confidence.

Maon looked up from his book to look at Daine again. Was she inviting him to a party, or something? Why would she invite him? He thought for a while. "I...suppose I could go." He said, then looked back at his book.

Diane smiled, quite taken aback that he had actually accepted. She wanted to press it, to make sure he wasn't just joking, but she really didn't want to push her luck. Afterall, this was for his benefit, she told herself. "Cool." she said after a few seconds, returning to her work, trying to work out if he would actually go or not. "See you about 8?" she asked casually, trying to work out if he was being serious or not.

Mayu had brushed her hair out of her eyes and scanned the books in the library a moment longer. Her arms were alrady full of books, mostly healing since that was her strongest subject, but she was looking for something about how to amplify magic. It had taken her a little while but she had finally found a book that talked about that exact thing.
Maybe the computer had been wrong and the library didn't carry it any longer. Mayu sighed, it was all too likely, the computer in question was old and the database was even older. Without bothering to glance at the bottom shelves she walked over to the corner she usualy sat in, falling to the floor in a soundless 'oof'. She winced and looked at the object that tripped her, it looked like the one that Ant once talked about. This book wouldn't be about theory, it could have the tables and charts about how to do it. She smiled and picked it up, dusting off her black skirts before gathering the other books.
Brynn would be happy to see another book like his, maybe they should search the library and see if it's a collection. She smiled shyly and headingback to the corner with De and the other male. "Hello." she whispered, struggling under the massive amount of books she had chosen.

Maon looked up when he heard someone say hi and saw a girl with a considerable amount of books. It kind of reminded him of him when he first got here. He was up for days reading. He smiled a little, wondering if he had met another book nut.
He looked at the backs of the books she had. Most were healing on healing, with a few other topics. "Nice pile." He mumbled, then went back to reading.

Diane looked at the pile as if she'd found her friend butchering an animal, "Big pile," she said after Maon, still unable to keep her eyes off the titles of all of the books. There were some that she couldn't even pronounce, never mind know what they were for. "What's all this in aid of?" she asked, suddenly afraid that her medicine teacher had set them some homework that she didn't know about.

Mayu smiled shyly and set the books down, careful not to tip the pile. "Just some light reading, uncle suggested most of these to me." she explained, picking up the first book in the pile. It was titled "A Rector in Curatio ; Vinco Professio", she smiled. Most of her books were in Latin, she found it easier to understand that way. If only she could write her papers in this language.
The rest of the pile were similar, though some could be in Greek or Welsh. Ignoring Diane for a few minutes she started reading the first page, reading the words under her breath. "Tametsi curatio est a donum plurimus veneficus user operor non utor , ut does non vilis is est non plurrimi maximus. Sano unus must exsisto funditus conscius suum phasmatis quod veneficus vox. They quoque must polleo creo a pacis intus themselves quod alio postulo curatio...." she stopped and smiled, hoping that she hadn't scared De. Maybe she should read the books at another time.

Diane almost felt like crying when she heard her friend speaking the strange language. She felt trapped behind this wall of books, blocked into this world of 'clever people'. Diane was smart; she usually got As in class, though she was happy to get anything above a C. Even when she did get a lower mark, however, she did very little to do anything to improve it - at least outside of the lessons. Her learning experience was 110% in the classroom, and 0% outside of it.
"Yeah." she said, pretending to agree to whatever Mayu was saying, "I particularly like the part with the... thing." she said, going back to her homework and quickly finishing it off, adding her name in big block capitals (except for the 'c') at the top of the sheet.

Mayu laughed and put away the foreign book. "It was about healing, De. Oh here. What is your favorite class?" she asked suddenly. She knelt over the pile searching quickly through the spines. Even though the books were all in a different language then what De could speak didn't mean that a spell couldn't be cast to translate it for her. As she knelt she felt the book poke her in the side. It was the book she had found when tripping down the bookshelves.

Diane shrugged. She wasn't quite sure what her favourite subject was, she only knew which ones she hated the most. She was far too clumsy to enjoy any of the really practical lessons, and particularly struggled with P.E. and Kenetics, but there were parts of every subject which she somewhat enjoyed. "I don't know." she answered truthfully, "I just like learning random facts, you know? Things I've known for ages which are suddenly explained to me. I guess Science is most like that, but I hate doing all those experiments."

Maon watched the conversation in silence, impressed by the new girls intellect. 'Light reading my foot.' He thought. 'Even I had some trouble with a few of those books. ' Then again, he was never good with healing. He smiled slightly, still reading.

Mayu nodded and tossed her a book, english thankfully for Diane. "It's about special gifts that masters from one type of magic can earn" she explained as it landed in Diane's lap. "Hello, what are you reading?" she asked, slidding to sit beside the male here. De hadn't meantioned his name and she had no idea who he was. Maybe it was because she was new here. Or maybe it was just because she didn't stay around people too long.

Maon looked up and stared at her for a while. "Resonance: A guide to Magical Amplification." He said after a while, holding up the book so she could read the cover. "It's all on theory." He added, putting the book down and continuing to read. "You should read it, once your done with all of those."
