It looked as though there had been a book massacre.
The volumes, big thick leather bound things, were strewn across the tables, some face down on their weathered and worn pages. Still others leaned haphazardly against the small table lamps, and three or four had slid to the ground, lying on the carpet with all the dramatics of fallen war veterans.
Lynn frowned, rubbing his temples. He knew it was late, but he couldn't stop: the teacher's words had intrigued him at that first Elements class. Time? Space? Illusion? These words had fired off something in his brain, some sort of cue. He had barely even heard the words about the specifics being lost to time: nothing could be lost forever, not without being found again. Still, this library (despite having something on almost every other subject) seemed to be empty of REAL information on these other subjects: what they did, what they could do. Only information on those who had used them, and how they usually died without passing on their craft.
The boy slumped over the table, watching his reflection in the pristine polished wooden tables. It was quiet in this section of the library, mostly because everybody else had headed off to bed, or to study in the dorms, leaving only him and the light of the full moon shining through the windows.
He thought faintly of heading to bed himself, but he couldn't stop searching for that first scrap of information. It had to be in here... it just HAD to.

Small, pale hands picked up several books from the floor and placed them on the table Lynn was at. Her eyes shifted to the titles of the books. She furrowed her eyebrows, "So, you have been looking for information as well." Her voice was like soft velvet when she was tired, which she was. Lynn had to have had almost every book from one section of the library on time, space, or illusion out on the table. Laying open to pages that had little information on the subject. She frowned as she opened one of the books to a random page. "Have you found anything yet," she asked as she tilted her head to the side.

Dolly was to an extent insomniatic. Well she couldn't sleep much since the day in the library. She was still furious that she couldn't get a spirit guide. Most nights were spent in the library now. The new one of course. She had also kept the key to the lock on the door in the out of bounds area around her neck now. She didn't want to go back but she wouldn't risk someone else going down there.
She walked into the library it was around midnight and everything was empty. Dolly yawned looking left peering through her thick glasses noticing a boy in despair. It looked as if he had torn through the library. She walked over peering at an open book on the table. It talked about an element of space. One being lost to time, apparently another element. She then looked at the boy. "Time? Space?" She said to him walking over and picking up another book to flip through. She had barely noticed the girl.

Lynn was shocked to attention by two voices.
Apparently, two girls had appeared while he was asleep. He blinked sleepily at them, gave a small yawn.
"N-No... nothing yet..." he mumbled, rubbing his temples. "I've... been trying my best..."
The other girl seemed more confused at his intentions, and he waved his hand at her.
"It's nothing... a useless quest, I suppose... but I had to try..."
He muttered, lying his head on the table. "I just wanted to find information on the 'lost' elements..."

Dolly nodded flipping through one book. Lost elements? She had recalled hearing that somewhere. Was it her mother? "Time, space, illusion, infinity also known as the element of nothingness, and I believe the last was chaos." She finished quietly. "But chaos being the most powerful they named them the Chaos elements. There might be more my mother told me of them" She said absent-mindedly. It was true they were also known as 'lost' elements.
She walked around the table to another book "The best place to find lost elements is in a lost library." She said walking into an aisle of books out of sight.

He paused, watching her walk away before scrambling to his feet, following after her, a sudden rush pumping energy into his tired bones.
"Wait, wait, wait!" he called, quickly catching up to her. "What do you mean, a lost library? Please, I need to know about these lost elements!"
His eyes were begging, pleading, his pull inside him begging for the information to be quenched.

Lily-Mae's bright blue eyes shifted between Dolly and Lynn. She tilted her head at she listened to what Dolly had said and watched as Dolly disappeared behind an aisle. She looked over at Lynn and followed Dolly. "Where are you going," she asked in a confused voice. She stepped over piles of books that had not been put away and almost tripped over a page that looked like it had been ripped out of a potions book.

"Where am I going? To look around the library as I do most nights..." She said matter-of-factly avoiding Lynn's question. "The lost library you mean?" She said stalling. "I refuse to go there or let you go there." She said frowning she had all the tools. The key to the lock and a map she had made there. "It's evil...unless one of you has some form of protection..." She said turning and walking down another aisle back into the main room. She was however curious to learn about these elements. But she was unsure of going back.

"Protection?! Fuck..."
Lynn continued to hurry after her, determined to not let this strange girl out of his sight, lest she vanish into thin air and never be seen again.
"I have protection! I can call on the spirits. And I know that sounds cliche, but I'm too out of my mind to change it. Look, you've got to help me find information on the elements! It's driving me out of my mind!"
He paused, grabbing her shoulder a bit stronger then he meant to.
"I'll go nuts if I can't learn about this!"

Lily-Mae followed Lynn closely and stopped abruptly as he grabbed Dolly's shoulder. She let out a small gasp. Her eyes shifted between Lynn and Dolly. Protection? Against what? She tilted her head to the side as she waited for Dolly to further explain herself. If they needed physical protection, Lily-Mae could easily handle that.

She was rudely grabbed and stopped. However decide reacting in anger she turned to him. "Really now?" She said putting space between them. "You think that will protect you from whatever is down there?" She said frowning. "You know this is dangerous right? Both of you can easily be possess or even killed." She said recalling what had happened to her. "How large this library is and how much we'll have to search?" She said in a normal voice. "This is a large task." She finished looking at them both. "I can't even guarantee answers."

"I don't care!"
Lynn sighed, rubbing his temples. "I'm sorry... I'm a bit short of temper right now."
He glanced up at her. "Please. I've been through danger before. And I have all the time in the world to look. But I have to know... I don't know why! I just have to!"

Lily-Mae took a step forward, "I think we are willing to take the risk." Her bright blue eyes flickered between Lynn and Dolly. She was more than willing. She was an elementalist now, but she could be even stronger if she could master the chaos elements. Power was something that appealed to her.

Dolly looked at them both a bit annoyed at the boy’s short temper. "Fine I'll take you both, only to grab the books and leave." She said looking at both. She gave into curiosity wanting to find these elements as well. "However we'll leave tomorrow at seven o clock at night." She said. "So get some sleep and then prepare yourself. I trust you both know where the out of bounds area starts? We'll meet there ok?" She said asking both of them now excited to go find the book. However she kept her cool appearance.

Lynnwood nodded, happily, a huge smile coming over his face.
"Yes! Yes! Thank you so much! Thank you!"
A huge amount of relief had come over him at her words: finally, all his questions would be answered about these mysterious elements. He would have to prepare, of course, but he was sure it would all be worth it.
"Tomorrow at seven 'o clock. Got it. I'll see you then!"
Eager now to fall asleep, he took off, still waving as he ran, a huge grin on his face.
