Grace stepped into the lecture theatre, her hand skimming along the desks as she looked up at all the empty seats, thinking of all the children that would be filling them in a few minutes. Not that they were children anymore, she suddenly corrected herself.
She turned to the blackboard. It seemed pretentious to write her name on the blackboard when she was the headteacher, and most of the students had already known her for at least three years. This was, however, the first year of her teaching some of them, and she wanted to make an impression.
She turned away from the white board, leaving it blank. She would just sit and wait for them, smile sweetly as they entered. After all first impressions to a new teacher were crucial.

Students slowly trickled into the seemingly normal class. However it was far from normal. Last time Brynn checked no normal school taught Necromancy. It was his favorite class and his third year taking it. However he was upset it was all theory.
His mother knew a little bit about Necromancy. Mostly the divination part of it but Brynn read up on it. He found it interesting and captivating attempting a few tries at forbidden spells. His results were exceptional. He walked in the class with dark jeans that were fitting and a gray v-neck shirt, with a black scarf around his neck.
The teacher was standing behind her desk. Grace Claudia, a substitute and fairly well necromancy teacher. He knew her from before. She was smiling at them all. He noticed some new students wondering who this lady was. Brynn took a seat in the back left corner of the room pulling out his book and looking around.

Grace smiled, watching the small trickle of people coming into the lecture theatre. She turned around, looking around the room for a clock. There was one just above the white board, clearly stating that it was 2 minutes until the lecture started. Looking around the classroom she knew that there would be a lot of latecomers at this rate. It was to be expected; the lower school was a maze and this was the first class.
She would wait another two minutes and start lightly, hoping the latecomers didn't inturupt too much.

Antosha smiled, grabbing all his Necromancy books before racing to class on his skateboard. He almost trampled some students heading to Herbology, but he didn't care. It was time for his favorite class, Necromancy. He had spent all summer studying on the subject, even attempting a few of his own summonings but none of them had worked even with his exceptional grades in last years class.
He stopped just inside the class room, picking up his skateboard so it wouldn't make noise against the floor. "Miss Claudia?" he asked, stopping in front of her desk. She was the head teacher at this school and he thought she rocked when teaching Necromancy. "Will we be learning anymore then theory this year?" he asked, already knowing the answer. Everything about this class was theory, as if they couldn't be trusted to raise the dead.

Diane rushed through the halls looking at her watch and then back to her path. She couldn't stand being late, even if it was by a second, and already she knew that she would be at least thirty of them late.
She suddenly slowed down at the door, thanking whatever god she didn't believe in as she saw more students still entering the room. She walked through slowly, examining the classroom, noticing that she had only ever been there last year. It was exactly as she remembered it, though she noticed that it was not the teacher she had been expecting. This was meant to be a Ms Jackson, not Mrs Mirrora... Unless she had changed her name.
Watching curiously, she noticed Antosha talking to the headteacher, wondering if he could get any information. She scanned the room, noticing Brynn at the far corner, and knew that Antosha would probably go to sit with him. She would save him having to choose between his friends, and went to the back next to Brynn. "Hey Brynn, good summer?" she asked casually.

Ms Jackson turned to the student, recognising him well. She knew about his passion for Necromancy - it was clear from the amount he asked questions, and the slight hints of personal knowledge he put into his essays. His passion scared her slightly - although they both shared a common love of Necromancy, it was for completely different reasons. She suspected it was the forbidden fruit to Antosha, whereas to her it was simply facts and rules with absolutely no leeway.
"Mr Cobb... Antosha." she said. She rarely used anyone's name first name, "Necromancy is banned for a reason. You're lucky to even learn about it, and that's only to enforce the horror it can create." She paused, and added, "For the record, my name is Ms Jackson now." she said shortly. She understood why some students called her Miss Claudia - it was her maiden name, and had been passed down through the years as what to call her, even after she was married. When she divorced over the summer, she decided to take her late mother's last name instead.

Antosha looked slightly ashamed, tucking a lock of his hair behind his ear. He had forgotten to spike it today so it was hanging infrount of his eyes. "I am sorry ma'am, I was hoping we would be trying it today. I was studying it this summer in my aunt's library and she said that although the dead are no longer amoung us summoning them requires a great amount of strength so most magic users can't do that. So I was wondering if we would be learning anything more then that because none of the books on Necromancy say what Necromancy truely is, other thensummoning and controling the dead..." he explained, before realizing he would get in trouble for knowing and saying so much about Necromancy.
He wasn't obsessed with it, but there was something about learning everything he could about the magic world. The more they tried to hide from him the more he wanted to know about it. Most classes in this school were boring, all about theory and not about practice. There were very few that actually allowed the practice of magic to be done in class, Necromancy not being one of them.

Grace looked at him for a long moment, not quite sure what to say. She appeared as calm and cold as usual, the only fault clearly shown by the clicking on her nails against the desk, saying nothing as she looked around the lecture theatre.
She leaned in forward, saying, "Antosha, I think these questions should probably wait until after the lecture. Ask me then."

Antosha nodded and shuffled his feet towards the back of the room to sit beside Diane and Brynn. "I think she hates me." he muttered, sliding into his seat. He hadn't meant to ask so many questions, because he just liked knowing things. Maybe after class she would be in a better mood. He reached for his bag, pulling out a notebook and pen for note taking. Everything Ms Jackson said would be put into this year's notebook.

She watched Antosha walking back to his seat carefully, a stupid thought in her head that she had to watch every second with him in case he decided to summon some beast into the school - it would be by accident if anything harmful happened, she knew that, but she was afraid he was only going to learn that lesson by getting hurt.
"Right," she said loudly to the entire classroom, unwilling to wait any longer for late-comers. "My name is Ms Jackson, I will be your Necromancy teacher this year, and also your History teacher until I can find a substitute. As from last year, I will also be your Headteacher, so as you can see my time is precious, and I don't particularly want to spend it with students in detention for calling me Mrs Mirrora. Are we clear?" she said, her voice crisp. She hadn't meant to get so worked up, but everything was suddenly becoming very real and very frightening as she told the students.
"Besides this, I'd like to give you a warm welcome and return to Necromancy and FMS. I'll be handing out a sheet, giving you my room number, the syllabus, homework times and contact information," she said, taking a big pile of paper from her desk and giving it to the first person on the front row, who handed it to the next person, who handed it to the next. "Today will mostly just be a introduction lecture on what we'll be studying over the course of this year. Any questions?"

Antosha bent over the syllabus, studying it carefully. He sighed and wrote down a copy of the paper onto his page, then raised his hand. "Ms Jackson? Is there anyway for an extra credit project for some people who would fail or would want to pull up their grades?" he asked calmly, his eyes matching hers from across the room.
He was used to teachers wondering what went on in his head, some even thought he would turn evil. Maybe he would, who knows. He smirked, waiting for Ms Jackson to reply to his question. He might get a detention, or maybe not. But he wanted the project, it had been fun last year.

Ms Jackson's mouth was a thin straight line. She'd been expecting a question like that, but she had sincerely hoped that it would have been asked in private. "I hardly think you would qualify for needing that, Antosha." she said stiffly, barely moving a muscle as she spoke those words, trying to calm the irritance in her voice and keep it formal.
"If anyone needs help," she said, finally able to loosen her body and look around the room, scanning at every table in turn - except for Antosha's, which she left til last, "You can always ask your peers, and if you're still struggling then you can ask me any specific problems you have in person. Did that answer your question?" she asked shortly to Antosha.

Antosha had remained staring at her as she scanned the room. Now it was time to be polite and do his work alone. "Yes ma'am." he said shortly. He kept his eyes dark and distant, somehow he would break her. Now it was a game to him, breaking a teacher. Some could be scared and others had to be taken away. Ms Jackson seemed the paranoid type, so he would give her just enough to think about and not enough proof. He smirked again, keeping his eyes dark and distant while letting some darkened thoughts glaze them over for moments. This would be fun.

Brynn noticed Diane. "Hey, uhm pretty boring actually but I'm glad to be back..." He noticed Anto talking to the teacher. After awhile he came to sit by them. Brynn smiled "Hey Anto..." He grabbed a paper reading it over carefully. More theory.
Necromancy was a class he like a lot, but would rather learn how to do it instead of actually just talking about it. Brynn tuned in to the teacher bringing out his notebook, textbook, and lime pen.

She smiled to herself and nodded, knowing fine well that Antosha was trying to get on her last nerve. It was working. She would have to keep a close eye on him, and particularly what she taught in her lessons from then on.
"Now, the first subject will be quite light and easy, and on contacting the dead. This is a topic which is hard to separate the fact and the fiction, so please do not go to the internet or any books which aren't on the syllabus list for this one. We will first consider contacting via a wiji board, and then through seance and mediumship. If you're not particularly strong with the theory of Psychics then you may struggle with this first chapter, so try and focus on that subject before coming to the lectures. "The second course includes possession, and using a spirit to fill someone elses body, whether with their permission or not. Obviously, this is very dangerous magic at that level, and we'll be sure to tell you exactly why you should not be practising this." she looked particularly to Antosha when saying this. "Then we shall break for the term, and when we come back we will study basic summons. This is a large topic and will need a lot of knowledge from all other subjects, particularly Kenetics and Potions, so over the holiday you need to recap on these subjects."
"Any questions?" she asked.
