She shrugged it off, telling him, "Just static," not really giving it much thought, though it did upset her slightly that he let go of her hand. She dropped her hands, and let Brynn also let go, looking at Antosha, waiting patiently. "Uh, Antosha... We can't do the mind reading thing..." she told him, still awaiting instructions. She guessed that it didn't include holding hands, though.

Antosha sighed, forgetting that important fact. He pulled out a knife and grinned, hoping they weren't afraid of blood. "Blood sacrifice, focus on De's mom, if she shows up in the candle's smoke then she's dead. If not, she's alive." he explained simply, not wanting to go into much detail. Most summonings required a spell or chant, but if they didn't actually want a contact, just to see her, then this would be much easier. That's what the books had said anyway.

She nodded, slowly leaning towards him. She was beyond fear now, a cool numbness washing over her as she told Antosha, "Do what you have to," her voice weaker than she had expected.

Blood sacrifice? Maybe this wasn't smart. Blood was never good. "B-blood sacrifice? Who does it have to be?" He said willing to do something if he could. He wasn't being very helpful anyways. "I'm willing..." He said looking down.

She let out a nervous laugh, looking at Brynn, "Um, no, Bry." she told him, softly shaking her head and politely telling him, "I've got you two in enough trouble already. It's my mum, and I don't know but I'm guessing that the spell might even be stronger with her blood?" she asked, looking to Antosha, "And even if that's not true, I'm not letting you two do anything that I can do instead."

Antosha smiled, it was as if she had read his mind. "Blood of kin is always stronger then blood of friend." he said solemnly. The silver knife sparkled in his hand as he held it out to Diane. "Just prick your finger and put a drop in the candle's flame." he explained. As he got further into this it became easier, as if he were remembering it from some where else. But he'd done this before, hadn't he?

She knew that hesitation would only make things harder, and she was hardly thinking as she grabbed the knife as fast as possible, making the tiny cut and dropping it into the flame. Her face was cold and unfeeling, and in that moment she felt nothing. There was no pain, no emotion, no desperation, just a blankness that was exactly as it was when she was at the forest. She watched the flame patiently.

Brynn wasn't good with blood. He watched a drop fall into the flame focusing on Diane's mom. He hoped this would work as he watched the flame with a great intensity. Brynn had a strange numb feeling wash over him.

Antosha slightly channeled the others feelings with his own, intensifying their own thoughts by three fold almost. It was simple, but tedious, almost impossible to focus on the thought of De's mom. The candle's flame flickered, wavered, and threatened to blow out. Above it the smoke was forming a shape, so hidden in the darkness it went almost unseen, but it had formed a definite shape of a woman. Her features marred by the thin link, but it was an easy resemblance to Diane.

Brynn watched in horror and wonder at the image that formed. It looked a lot like Diane. He gasped as the smoke curled forming an almost human replica of what appeared to be her mother. "Wh-what does it mean?" He said quietly as if any loud noise would mess it all up.

She breathed out a long, shaking breath, "It means she's dead." she said, looking at Antosha for clarification, although she knew it was true. As horrible as it was, try as she might she couldn't stop smiling. It felt like a huge weight had been lifted from her heart. She covered her mouth, though her eyes gave away her joy, even though tears were soundlessly dropping from them. "She's safe..." was all she could say, stopping herself from laughing.

Antosha blew out the candle quickly, banishing the image. He didn't bat an eyelash at Diane's hysterics, without a second thought he gave her a small hug. Her tears were flowing smoothly, unburdened by any sadness. With a gentleness usually displayed only with Brynn, he wiped them away with his thumb before cleaning up the area.
