And Lynn woke up.
The first thing he wondered was: where was he? White tiles and various utensils told him he was in the kitchen. Which didn't make sense. He had been sleeping in his room, last he remembered.
The second question that popped into his mind: how had he gotten in the kitchen? Judging from the cat clock on the wall, it was past midnight, and the kitchen was locked at nine. Turning on his heel and hugging his arms around him, he saw the kitchen door open... no, not open. Broke off it's hinges.
Lynn held back his gasp, stepping back until he bumped against the counter. Had that been him?! He closed his eyes, wondering if it was all just a dream. Seconds passed. The cat clocked ticked, it's eyes and tail sliding back and forth. Lynn's eyes opened, and he realized that he had, indeed, broken into the kitchen.
The third question that popped into Lynn's mind: why the hell am I holding a knife? He dropped it in the sink as quick as he could, wondering faintly what to do. Leave and find somebody? Go back to bed and hope nobody noticed? Stay here? His mind buzzed with questions, and none of them he could answer.

Antosha teleported into the kitchen, hoping for an apple. When he saw Lynn there, he became very confused and stared at him for a few minutes. "What happened?" he asked, rushing to the other boy's side. Casting darting glances around the room he noticed the broken door and the knife in the sink. He didn't dare let himself react, Lynn seemed more upset then he did, so Lynn would be all that mattered.

And, of course, somebody teleported in.
Lynn should have been expecting so; students often did for midnight snacks. However, he shrieked anyway, a sound quite more high pitched then he liked. He coughed, still shivering slightly as the boy rushed over, and in the dark room for a second he didn't know who it was.
"Ant?" he questioned, and remembered a low vision spell. Musing it under his breath, his eyes glowed faintly green, allowing him a good deal more sight. It was, indeed, Ant. "I-I..."
Could he get in trouble for a thing like this?
"I thought I heard something, so I came down here, and... the door was broken..." he muttered, trying to get himself back under control. His head was still a blurry mess of thoughts... but it was starting to even itself out.

Antosha watched Lynn, wondering why he would lie. Oh well, it didn't matter. they got him Julie was trying to be helpful, brushing against Lynn's arm. "You alright? You seem upset." he said, holding Lynn up. He was a wrecked, something must have really scared him. Who would break into the kitchen anyway? You could always just teleport in.

Lynn paused, and then sighed, letting out another deep breath.
"No, just surprised..." he muttered faintly, nodding. "Shocked, I guess..."
Now that he was calm, he could feel the spirit energy in the air. It was so thick as to almost be touchable... and amongst the energy, both evil intent and good actions mixed. Most of the spirits seemed amused at Lynn's fright: in fact, they were probably the ones intensifying it.
He strengthened his aura's anger, almost like an invisible snarl, and most of the spirits decided to go find their fun elsewhere. However, one seemed to linger, merely laughing at Lynn's intimidation attempts.
"I didn't know this school had ghosts."

Antosha winced at Julie's hate for the word. "They prefer to be called spirits, and Ms Jackson let them out by accident earlier. I'm suppose to be helping her get-" he stopped, unsure how far he could trust Lynn with this. After all, they boy had just been surrounded by the entities.

"No wonder there's so many of them."
Lynn sighed, glancing imperceptibly at the few that still lingered about... including one that had quite a different feel to it. A spirit guide? How interesting. He hadn't seen one in quite a long time.
He paused, glancing over to the knife still in the sink. Now that he could see it... it was clean. What? Had he been expecting blood?
"I believe some of them have less then pure intentions."

"Except for our spirit guides, most of them are up to no good.." Antosha admitted, then winced. He wasn't really telling Lynn everything, the boy had guessed most of it. Why not fill him in even more, Ms Jackson would probably add him since he seemed to be able to sense the spirits more easily.

Lynn nodded.
"I can't really tell much about them otherwise." he murmured, making his way over to the light switches and turning one on. The kitchen was flooded with a dull light.
He paused, then gave a small weak smile to Antosha. "I'm sorry. I should have explained. I've been training with spirits almost all my life... though I'm not very much used to being possessed. At least, I'm pretty sure that's what happened here. Thankfully nothing really bad happened. The most I can do is summon them, and talk to them."

Antosha smiled, maybe he would be a big help after all. "I've never worked with spirits before, Julie here is my first." he smiled, motioning to a space of air. A small girl flickered into view, her image black and white, she waved her hand briefly before disappearing again.

Lynn nodded and smiled as the little girl appeared.
"Your spirit guide, yeah?" Lynn asked. "I felt something different about her. She's a powerful one."
He paused, a wonder pinching faintly at the back of his brain.
"Does Brynn know about this stuff too?" he asked, rubbing his arms. Despite the light, the kitchen was still chilly.

"He's got his own spirit guide, yeah. So does Diane." Antosha laughed, wondering if the whole school would find out about the spirit problem. "Hey, Lynn, what's your favorite element?" he asked suddenly, smiling. If it was earth he would laugh, probably even fall to the floor kind of laughter.

Lynn was caught off guard by the question, and found himself wondering. He had never really been in tune with elemental magics, and had never really considered which fit him.
"I don't know." he finally answered. "I suppose I like all of them equally... without even one of them, the world could not exist. Sorry to disappoint."

"Nah, it's alright. I'm more into fire, Brynn is ice and water I guess. Which, as I think about means we should go together.. Anyway, I'm guessing Mayu would be more into air, since she prefers speed and precision.. I don't know where that would leave Diane." he laughed, having taken serious thought in the matter. Antosha shook his head at himself, he was very weird, even he knew it.

"You know, some people say there's a fifth element."
Lynn made his way towards the kitchen door, pondering faintly how to fix it.
"The human spirit. Or, just spirit. Maybe that's mine."
Lynn waved his hand, and the door floated upright, but Lynn knew he was too tired, and he let it float back, gently, to the ground. He turned around and leaned against the door frame, glancing at Lynn with a tired smile.
"I'm tired... I think I'm going to go back to bed. Now that I know there's spirits about, I'll cast some protections, so no need to worry."
