Diane was pulling the last of her bags into her room. She still had to unpack so many of her things and she had no idea if she would have enough room.
There were four beds in the room, each of them with a small piece of paper with their name written on them. There were also four wardrobes and four sets of drawers, similarly labeled. "Well, that just takes the fun out of it." she said aloud quietly, moving to her bed and beginning to unpack her things, wondering who her roommates would be this year.

Mayu walked up to the girl dorms, pulling her bags behind her. The paper had said she woudl share a room with two other girls. With a sigh she moved a strand of her long hair, pulling her bags up to her room would be too much of a hastle. She voted on using magic to float her bags up there. Mayu giggled and walked towards her new room, happy that her things were sorting themselves into her drawers and wardrobe.
She didn't notice the other girl in the room untill she walked inside, her dress dragging against the floor. "Hey." she said quietly, not wanting to draw attention to herself. It was only her first year here and she could afford to make people mad.

Diane watched the flurry of clothes and personal belongings glide through the air, subconsciously pressing herself as close to the wardrobe so she didn't get in the way of one of them. She turned and smiled shyly at the new girl, impressed that someone so young could cast such a spell, and remembering her first experience with it, "I tried doing that in my second year and I still haven't been able to find half the things that spell hid away." she said with a polite smile. "I'm Diane, by the way."

Mayu bowed her head politely, smiling shyly. "I'm sorry if it disturbed you." she said, waving her hand to make everything go faster until it was all put away. She had not been aware that her spell could have been an upper level spell. It was something she did everyday, her great uncle had taught her the control for most spells, only Necromancy did she fail at. "I'm Mayu Nami Yoshiko. Please call me Mayu." she replied, looking around the room.

Diane smiled and finally moved away from her wardrobe, facing the small girl face to face. She was so small Diane was worried that she could break her just by looking at her. "Nice to meet you, Mayu. How long have you been here for?" she asked curiously, sitting down on the end of her bed. It was uncomfortable enough without her having to stand. She hated having to meet strangers.

Mayu relaxed some, but remained standing. She would sit later if needed. "A few days. Ant has been showing me around." she said. The girl looked older then herself, and she was much taller. But then again, most people were taller then herself. "Do you know this boy?" she asked suddenly. Snapping her fingers paper flew to her hand, it was an exact image of Antosha. Though it was hand drawn by Antosha himself it looked more like photograph. Thankfully since Mayu was at FMS she could use all the magic she wanted, but she would try and use it only in the dorm rooms.

Diane's eyes sprung open as she saw Antosha's face, as she instinctively grabbed the piece of paper, checking that it was definitely a picture. She recognised it as Antosha's artwork instantly, and still had the picture that she had received from him only hours ago in her bag. "You know Antosha?" she asked, looking up at Mayu. The two looked so completely different it was strange to think of them as being connected at all. "How?" she almost demanded, wondering if she would let her keep the picture. She didn't want to ask though, and could only hope that she would keep it somewhere visible in the room.

Mayu smiled, knowing this to be The Diane. "Ant is an old childhood friend, we have kept in touch about our schools, he doesn't know I'm here right now though. I wanted to surprise him. You must be De?" she explained, smiling still. The girl seemed to like Ant's artwork, maybe she should show Diane the rest later. She would really enjoy it. Exept maybe the 'Family photo'...

She blushed and looked up, "Oh Gods, what's he been saying about me?" she asked, torn between not wanting to know and insane curiousity. Had he really been talking about her? There was no way that she could of known of his nickname if not, and she could feel her cheeks beginning to turn redder and redder by the minute. "Have to say though, he's never mention you before, or anyone from back home for that matter."

Mayu laughed, touching the De's should reassuringly. "Don't worry, it wasn't anything bad. Do you like Ant's art?" she asked, turning to gather up some old and frayed papers. Suddenly she stopped cold and turned around to see Diane. "I'm not surprised." she said bitterly before grabbing the papers back up. She turned around and held up the pictures, suspending them in air.
The first one was a butterfly caught in the wind, it's wing being pulled farther and farther back. The second had a caged tiger, seemingly pasing back and forth in it's cage. The last one was torn and crumpled, the lines faded. It held a small girl made of glass, her shoulder held tightly by a thin woman who's features distroyed by scars. A young boy was laying at his dad's feet, in a pool of blood.

Diane felt a chill run down the back of her neck as she looked at the art, though surprisingly it wasn't for the most obcious reason. She found herself drawn to the pictures, though had to quickly look away from one in particular, even as she found the others also grotesque. She was terrified of butterflies, and had been for as long as she could remember, and Antosha's realistic drawing unnerved her incredibly. Her eye lids fluttered, finding herself unable to look away for a long moment, struggling to finally look up at Mayu, "Antosha drew these?" she asked, unable to even think of looking back into the black hole.

Mayu nodded, casting the pictures back into a box filled with more. "The rest are just like those." she said quietly, trying not to scare Diane anymore then she already had. Mayu had no idea why she had to show Diane those picture, maybe it was because part of her wanted Diane to know about Antosha's past. "I used to think he cursed his pictures, making them suck you in. Some of them could make the whole school cry when he put it in the art show at school." she sighed, no one should have to be like Antosha.

Diane frowned, skimming her eyes through the rest of the images - they were horrific, and the metaphors were even worse, but she had seen enough horror movies to learn to build a resilience to images like that quickly. "Are these people... real?" she asked, trying to see where the same people were in more than one picture. It felt wrong, like she was looking into something very secret and personal to him. She remember just how embarrassed he had been when she'd seen the picture of Brynn, never mind these.

Mayu nodded grimly, her face set into a harsh line. "The man, the one beating the little boy, is Antosha's dad. The little boy is Ant himself, I'm the little glass girl. The woman is Antosha's mom." she explained, pointing to the people as she said it. She remembered how Ant used to be as he drew all these pictures, and she smiled. Antosha finally found a place where he was happy and he'd even fallen in love. Everything would be better now.

Diane's eyes opened wide, and she took a step back, covering her mouth. She felt physically sick, a sudden rush of emotions entering her mind. How could she have not noticed? She suddenly felt so guilty and disgusted with herself. Her breathing quickened, as she thought how foolish it was that she had been so much more afraid of the picture of the butterfly; now all she wanted was to hold the boy in the picture in the drawing, hold onto Antosha and tell him all about this bad dream that she had had...
She still couldn't say anything, a single tear running down her cheek as she looked at Mayu soundlessly screaming but covering her mouth.
