Antosha leaned over his book, sipping the hot coffee he had ordered. Thankfully he was finally alone long enough to read a nonmagic book, something he could never do at the school. With a sigh he set down the book and got out his new cell phone. Looking through the phone book he sent a text to Diane to come here to meet him, though he doubted she would.
Glancing around he pulled the hood over his head and rested against the giant book. He had spent the last week staying up all night studying for Kenetics, one of his worst subjects. Yawning to himself, he shut his eyes to wait for Diane or whoever else showed up at the coffee shop.
Without realizing it, he'd fallen asleep in less then a minute. Behind his eyelids began a familiar movie, the one where he stood alone by the shores of a beach. He was watching the sunset as the fire far away began to die out. He woke suddenly, feeling the familiar tears falling down his cheeks. Looking out the window he watched as the sky lit on fire from the sun falling from it's place in the sky. Diane better be here soon, he needed her friendliness but right now even Brynn would do.

Diane, however, was sitting in her room and trying to organise her first night out on the town. She was texting every person that she had the phone number of, trying to get them all to come and enjoy a night at Henton's finest (well, cheapest) pub. There had been posters dotted around campus for it, but she doubted that any of her friends would actually go unless she persuaded them.
Her text back wrote; "Hey, I'll be about half an hour, but sure. You coming to the Heron tonight? x It'll be awesome."
And she packed away her things, ready to continue her 'work' at the coffee shop. She hoped Antosha could find company before she arrived.

Antosha jumped as his butt started playing "Forever" by Red, he hadn't expected a text from anyone. It was probably just Diane replying to his message from before, how long ago was that anyway? He picked up his cellphone and punched in a quick reply; "Yeah sure, Brynn coming?" He wanted it to seem innocent about it but he really wanted to hang out with Brynn again.
Pushing the send button he shoved it back in his pocket, reaching for his notebook. An idea had popped into his mind, he really should write a letter to his old school friend. Maybe Anastasia, or Keridwen. Keridwen was such a werid name, the boy was french or something. Antosha laughed, writing down about his "boarding school". He made sure to keep anything magical out of it.

She was just about to leave, with her small bag over her shoulder, whispering a small chorus of things she should bring, when she remembered her phone, picking it up from the desk. It had been a few minutes since she had last checked it, so she impulsively opened its case and looked. 1 Message. She was confused at first, but then remembered that she'd left it on silent from her lessons. She texted back, saying "Don't have his number. Can you ask him? Be there in 15 x x x Grab me a chai latte in 5 and I'll pay you back."

Antosha grabbed his phone as it went off to text a faster reply, "Me neither, and it's on the house." Shutting his phone he got the waiters attention and order DIane her Chai Latte, taking a sip of his still steaming black coffee. Now to wait for Diane, he wondered about the party she had been talking about. Would it be safe to ask Brynn to go? Or would it seem like a date.
Sighing he put his head back onto his book, closing his eyes for a short nap before Diane arrived. The waiter didn't say anything as he set the Latte by Antosha's head and leaving to refill the coffee. That was the bueaty of the place, you didn't have ot ask they just got you what you needed as soon as you needed it.

Diane was tempted to text back, but she realised that she would be there before she had the chance. She opened the door, feeling the heaters blasting her as soon as she entered the place. It felt choking and stuffy, but somehow quite comfortable. She walked through, seeing Antosha with his head on the table, suddenly afraid that something bad had happened.
She sat down by the table, her chair squeaking against the floor as she pulled it out, saying, "I'm not that bad, am I?"

Anotsha groaned and looked up, rubbing sleep from his eyes. "Hey." he mumbled, his voice darker then it normally was. His lack of sleep was effecting his looks, making im paler with darker bags under his eyes. "Your not bad." he answered after thinking about it. Reaching over he gave her Latte and took another sip of his coffee. After another second thought he shoved the book into his bag.

"Thanks," she said, accepting the chai latte. It was the perfect temperature to drink now, just as she had planned. "Wow, you look rough, bad night?" she asked, rubbing his arm. Something about Antosha made her feel completely comfortable with physical contact, and sometimes she even wanted to just reach out and touch him. It was completely platonic, she knew. "So, why are you after Brynn there so much?"

Antosha laughed, his normal voice slipping back in. "Always a rough night." he said, ruffling her hair to she if she'd get mad. Girls were strange, you never could do the right thing to please them. "What do you mean 'After Brynn'?" he asked. Sometimes she could ask the weirdest things.

She pulled a twisted annoyed face, backing away from him until he was out of reach of her hair, trying to run her fingers through it quickly to straighten it out. In doing so, however, she had accidently pulled some of her hair to the wrong side of her parting, and didn't even notice. "Rough with thoughts of Brynn" she said, gasping the name and putting her hand to her chest, "It was just he was the only one you mentioned, that's all." she grabbed her drink, taking it close to her mouth but not actually taking a sip, "I didn't know you two were that close."

Antosha stared at Diane, trying to pick his jaw off the floor. "Was not. I was drawing. Meet your new roommate yet?" he asked casually, trying to change the subject. Not that he minded talking about Brynn but that was rather rude of her to ask, not really but he pretended to be upset. Picking up his coffee he took a gulp, glad of it's warmth.

She bit her lip, particularly at the reminder of both drawings and her new roommate in the same conversation. "Yeah, actually," she said, moving her chair closer to him with an ear piercing screech. She grimaced at the noise, and carried on, "Yeah, well, I haven't met the other two, but I met one of them. She seems really nice, if a bit shy. Also, she mentioned your name. Apparently she knew you back in your old school. Someone called Mayu?" she asked. There was no humour in her voice.

Antosha's eyes widdened and he started choking on his coffee. "Mayu??" he gasped, wondering what had happened. Knowing Mayu she would have told Diane everything. He closed his eyes, feeling dread crash onto his shoulders. "What did she tell you?" he whispered, his voice barely audiable.

Diane didn't really want to answer. She shuffled around on her seat, sitting on her hands as she felt the anxiousness flow through her. She liked things the way they were, even if it was a superficial relationship; she wanted him to be able to tell her everything, but this was a skeleton that she couldn't help but feel was quite comfortable inside its closet. She smiled and shrugged, lying, "Not a lot, why?" She knew she couldn't lie, but hoped that he would take the hint.

Antosha sighed, his heart beat fluttered under his ribs. Diane was worthless at lying, and she knew it. "Alright hun, whatever you say." he said, kissing the top of her head. It was soemthing he wouldn't normally do, but De was different from most girls. She made him happy, and that's what mattered right? He sighed again, knowing that someday they would eventually have to talk about all this. He cursed Mayu under his breath, she should have kept her mouth shut.
