Kit flinched. He'd been out of it for several hours, he'd had no idea there had been anymore attacks. And being told that one of your best friends was killed was not made any easier by Crys. Rather the opposite. The way that she had glossed over everything had seemed like such a blessing until that moment.
"B-Brendan?" he whispered, hardly able to believe her, but he knew that she would never dare lie about something like that. He reached out for Zeke's hand quickly, holding it desperately as he felt his eyes beginning to water.
And Crys didn't care, just didn't care. He felt furious at her, felt like screaming at her, but he couldn't. "Zeke..." he looked over to him, needing him close to him, needing to be held.

Zeke noticed all the little things that made Crys…Crys. Her glare, her eyes as they rolled, her tone and just about everything else that made her appear like a bit of a bitch. He ignored it however. Listening to her quietly just nodding now and then. “Yea I heard…apparently some crazy killer is on the loose. Like a horror movie.” Zeke said quietly still realizing he hadn’t looked at Kit once.
“It’s begin taken care of I hear.” Zeke put off looking at her noticing how hard she was staring at him, like it was wrong to be with Kit. “Uhm, well I don’t know just wanted to spend some time with him. Sorry.” He said with a small smile. “I don’t think it’s that big a problem.” Zeke said wondering if she’d take that a bit offensively or not. He pushed back a strand of his own hair that was getting in his eye.
Zeke noticed it soon; her words stung Kit rather quickly. He looked upset now and Zeke looked at him, the bits of guilt hurting but he knew now that Kit would need something to ground him. Zeke could tell by how quickly his hand was grabbed and Kit's eyes. He looked devastated. Zeke was quick to react trying as hard he could to put his arm around Kit in comfort, the wires made it harder but he successfully wrapped an arm around Kit holding his hand in the other. "Hey look, it's going to be ok..." He knew it wasn't. Death was death but anything to make Kit feel better. Words really couldn't comfort him, only Zeke arms and presence could or he hoped. All he could do was protect him and be his safety blanket when Kit needed him.

Crys seemed to appear a little irritated by the turn of circumstances, "Well, if they dare come after me then they'll have a..." her words trailed off, seeing Zeke moving quickly to put his arms around Kit. "Oh." she finished flatly, the closest thing to sympathy that she would ever get as she leaned back in her chair, watching with interest. "Kit, you really should have known.. I mean, everyone knows. How could a friend not?" she asked, her words sounding accusing even as she didn't strictly mean them to be.

Zeke was upset at how absolutely uncaring Crys could be. It made him wonder if she was sympathetic or showed feeling to anything at all. Her words would just hurt Kit more. “Crys…just don’t talk please.” Zeke said a bit annoyed with her now. His attention focused to Kit his hand slightly squeezing Kit’s trying to comfort him, to let him know that Zeke would be here for him whenever he needed it. “Kit…” He said quietly. He really wasn’t going to ask anything just more to say his name.

Kit curled into Zeke, really not at all certain of how he should have taken the news. How could this not be a big thing? How could these people not have known how good a person Brendan really was, how little he deserved that to happen to him. "Zeke..." he said slowly, pressing himself against Zeke, not caring as it made him in pain. He was already in pain.
He looked up, looked between the two that were in the room, both looking at him. He looked down again; they were both expecting so much from him. Love, interest, attention, and he couldn't give that. Not now. He just needed to be away from all of his petty problems. He pulled himself away from Zeke, muttering under his breath, "Zeke... Crys... can I have a minute?" [/blockquote]

Zeke responded quickly untangling himself from Kit with a small frown. “However long you need.” He said quietly brushing his hair aside and standing up breaking the final contact of their hands. He stepped away and out of the room waiting for Crys to follow suit. Zeke stepped into the bright white hallway leaning against the wall with a frown hoping Kit would be ok.

Crys stood up for a moment, but didn’t move out of the room, waiting for Zeke to go first. Kit looked up at her questioningly. “Crys, you should-“
“But you want me,” Crys said, her eyes burning brightly, his lips pouted slightly.
“Sorry?” Kit asked, genuinely confused as to what she meant, but somehow glad that Zeke was out of earshot, even if he could easily look around the corner and see if something was happening.
“You want me here, Kitty Cat,” she said, a seductive look in her eyes as she pressed her chest forwards ever so slightly, folding her arms just so that she could press her breasts together for more cleavage. It was a subtle movement, almost unnoticeable, meant only to show him exactly what she meant and exactly what she already knew. “Maybe not this Crys. Maybe the...” she looked down, her whole image suddenly melting as sadness crept into her eyes, every muscle in her body shifting to make the ultimate act, “’I’m so sorry for your loss’ Crys” she breathed, every word dripping with flawless emotion of sympathy until the last, were her cold-hearted true self came screaming back.
“Just letting you know...” she said, battering her eyelashes as she took his hand and squeezed it softly, Kit too stunned to pull it away. “That I’m there for you, when you need it,” she purred, before dropping his hand, and walking with a soft sway out of the room.
She turned to Zeke, a cheery smile on her face. “Visiting hours are nearly over,” she reminded Zeke, not even taking another look back to Kit’s room. “What are you gonna do now?”

Zeke didn’t hear Crys’s little tease to Kit, or if he did he chose to ignore it to stubborn to acknowledge what was true. So he waited outside quietly for Crys to come out and well, be Crys. She was there her fiery hair announcing her entrance. Zeke looked down not exactly planning to talk to her unless she said something first, and she did, surprisingly enough.
“Uhm, I guess go to the dorms, come back tomorrow and see him again.” Zeke shrugged. “And yourself? Are you coming back tomorrow?” He raised an eyebrow. Could she even care enough to come back again? Somewhere Zeke knew maybe she could even if it was only fake sympathy.

Crys smiled at Zeke, a smile that could always be considered beautiful but rarely pretty. It was so plastic, so twisted from years of walking over everyone else that it was almost impossible to see anything other than a monster.
But then, she seemed to change before his eyes, putting her arms around herself awkwardly. It was unlike how she had held herself from Kit, hiding herself rather than showing off her assets. She turned away from Zeke, not really wanting him to look at her eyes. Her bottom lip slipped along her teeth lightly, every inch of her flawlessly showing concern, a break in her cold armor.
She blinked once, as if suddenly remembering that Zeke was talking to her. "Hm?" she asked, smiling awkwardly as she looked down, "Oh, sorry, um yeah I guess I'll... just head back to mine," she said, sounding a little distracted. "I-I'll be back tomorrow, definitely..." she said slowly, looking back into Kit's room.

Her smile stung slightly, it was so perfectly fake it hurt to see. Zeke looked sideways slightly. Then things changed suddenly, she seemed different and for a second Zeke actually wondered if it was fake or not, but the kind nature of him got to her. “Hey…he’ll be alright.” Zeke said looking down. “With people like us to protect him.” Zeke tried giving a small smile.
It was strange to comfort her, very strange since she was so independent. Zeke looked sideways. “Any who, maybe he’s ready to see us? Do you want to ask?” Zane said needing to get away from being sentimental toward someone like Crys.

Crys looked up at him, her eyes shaking slightly. Somehow, she looked fragile, human, and unbeknown to her, it actually made her look staggeringly beautiful. If she had known that, she possibly would have done it more often... "Zeke..." she said softly, before turning away her eyes, seemingly frustrated with herself. "If something had happened.... He's the only one I can... talk to..." she said, giving a small nervous laugh under her breath, rubbing the palm of her hand awkwardly.
She shook her head, taking in a deep breath and lifting her head up tall, placing the cold mask back on, though it seemed to fit her a little uncomfortably now. She gave Zeke a sneering smile again, "Tell him I had to redo my make-up..." she said, her voice cracking as she quickly turned away from Zeke, half-running down the hallway to get away from the room.

Zeke watched her so easily slip into something so not Crys. It was strange to look at her with pity, like she was vulnerable. For a second he considered hugging her and telling her that it would be ok, of course, this was out of kindness rather than anything else. “…” He was quiet. “It’s ok.” He mumbled slightly putting a hand out slowly before retracting it like an electric shock.
His hand moved so because her steely mask snapped back on and that smile hurt to look at. Zeke was stupid almost letting her wonderful acting get to his head, no not again, she wasn’t going to fool him like that again. Zeke somehow knew now that she was nothing but ice, ice with a pretty face, manicured nails, and pampered hair. She was cold, hard, and plastic. Zeke shook his head watching her walk away.
Knocking on the door he peeked in “Hey Kit, can I come back in now? Crys left.” He said quietly knowing he’d be upset, he knew why too, but he wasn’t going to believe it.

Kit raised his head slowly, feeling like snapping at Zeke for his comment in his haze of emotions, but he tried to keep the harshness out of his voice as he told him, "That's not why I sent you away..." He had assumed that Zeke had thought he needed a chance to just get away from Crys, instead of needing time alone.
And now, everything was so much more confusing. He'd always known how manipulative Crys was, but a dark part in his mind had made him think that he was somehow immune, that somehow she cared enough about him to not make him part of her stupid games. And she hadn't even betrayed that, before now.
"I'm sorry..." he said slowly, pulling himself forwards in the bed and reaching out to Zeke to stay beside him. "I-I think I'm... coping... ish," he said with a small smile. [/font]

Zeke was a bit embarrassed at his choice of words. “I didn’t mean it like that…” He mumbled quietly. “I was just telling you, she left…” Zeke looked sideways this probably being the biggest slap to the face that Cry’s meant something to him. Zeke walked in slowly sitting by Kit. Visiting hours were close to being over. He sat next to Kit for a second thinking about this day and how much he still did love Kit. He didn’t want to see the big picture this way but puzzle pieces were fitting and he didn’t want to believe it, he wouldn’t.
“That’s good to hear.” Zeke smiled softly looking at Kit. “Anyways maybe I should go Kit, visiting hours are nearly over.” Zeke stood up. “I’m sure you’ll be safe here.” Zeke said with a small smile. “I…” Zeke stopped himself like he had so many times before. “Night Kit.” He smiled touching his hand before walking back, he really did want to kiss him goodnight but he knew that it would just be awkward. “I’ll be back tomorrow.” He called through the hall before walking off to his dorm feeling a bit crappy but still not wanting to believe what was so blatantly put in front of him.
