Hello and welcome to FMS, a roleplaying website for Fedor Mystic Secondary School of Magic.
I'll try and keep these rules short, because I don't want to restrict who reads them. Remember that FMS is a place for all roleplaying styles and literacies (assuming that they actually try hard to roleplay well). Please prove that you can roleplay even with someone of a completely different style. All we ask for is imagination.
The information is split into three main parts: - Rules
- Storyline
- Application

Rules Love them or loathe them, we all need them!
This is a roleplaying site of Semi-lit and up! This basically means that as long as you have sentences that connect together, a hint of imagination and absolutely no one-line responses, then you should be more than welcome here. Of course, if you choose to write an entire novel in your reponses, we welcome you too!
We do request a couple of things though;
- Please, keep repetition to a minimum in your posts. Every line should give more information.
- No GM or PP or Mary-sues; basically, don't control other's characters, don't act all-powerful or just irritatingly perfect or cliche
- We respect imagination above all else!
- No chatspeak in character
- Your characters may fight, but if you are fighting OOC then you will be warned and possibly suspended
- Please try to not make spelling mistakes, and use capitalisation if and only if appropriate. We understand the occasional mistake, though
- Do not make your character cast magic in a Magic-Free Protection area (i.e. Henton Town). If you break this your post may be deleted. The protection can be broken by extreme will power and magical power - but this is VERY rare.
Some things to be aware of:
- Some roleplays may include an age rating beside them. Please be considerate - if you think that your roleplay contains something mature then write so. Roleplayers are warned that some roleplays will contain foul language, gore and inappropriate behavior.
- In the school, only teachers can start lessons. Although only teachers may start lessons, students may use the rooms (boards) for practise outside of a lesson plan.
- You can roleplay anywhere you want, including where there are no sub-boards, and feel free to make up places in the school!
- You can have as many characters as you like, although each student must have had at least 3 roleplays before another character is added. Each teacher must have had at least 1 roleplay before another is added
- We recommend you join as a student, and then create a teacher later if you wish. This is just because it may be easier to socialise with other characters if you have a student - but feel free to defy to stereotype!!
- There is currently no school uniform in the school
- When making an account, your username can be anything you like. Your display name will be changed to your character's name after you've been approved. To login again, you will need to use your original username, even once the display name has been changed.
- Please remember to save the adress of FMS!

Storyline We've been getting the same mistake from a lot of applications, so this is just to make things crystal clear; Everyone has the ability to learn magic, and it is not a power that you can inherit. You can be particularly strong in magic, logic or even a specific part of the magic, but every human being has the ability to unlock the same spells. Fedor Mystic Secondary School of Excellence (FMS) has always been shrouded in mystery. It has existed for years, hidden in so much secrecy most of the world doesn't even know it exists. FMS is one of a few hundred schools all over the globe that teach the importance of magic, though FMS is possibly the most advanced. It proudly boasts the greatest teachers, large funding and general excellence; it is the Oxbridge/Ivy League of the magic world.
'The magical world' is not a parallel dimension, or a physical world. It is no different to our world, with the very same people and technology and history. The Magical World is simply the connection of people who all know of the secret of magic. Unlike the other schools, FMS's location has never been revealed. Students from every culture and country were teleported to the mysterious school, placed under a spell so that language- and even to a certain extent culture - was no boundary.
Here, students were taught magic; a spiritual energy inside everyone which, with careful practice and dedication, can unleash massive potential. Spells would be learnt and cast, and enhanced by potions or wands. Essentially, all humans have a magical power to them, which can only be unlocked in very specific ways. Wands are sometimes used sort of like a lightening rod to link the power inside of them to the spell they're casting in the air, but they can also, with a lot more effort, not use them. They were taught to not tell a soul of their art, and warned of the outrage and terror that it would create, and how it would cause the collapse the known world.
Students were all different, though they all had strong connections to the magical world. Some were spotted for being particularly adept even before beginning their study, most however came from a long line of magic-taught blood. A few broke the rules, bribing the school with the same money that had earned them the very knowledge of magic. The school did not complain, and flaunted its new and expensive facilities.
Already trouble has been cracking the very foundations of the school... who knows what else is to come?
Studies - Physical Education - Even in the Magical world, keeping fit is necessary, though the games played vary. Physical Ed. Teachers need to teach a wide range of games.
- Ethics - With great power comes great responsibility; FMS teaches it's students the importance of keeping the secret if magic, and how not to abuse their power.
- History - The History lessons teach both the history that the outside world is taught and the facts behind the important incidents in time.
- Necromancy - Age 16+ The Study of harnessing the power of the dead, whether using their knowledge (mediums and seances), or bringing them back to life. Only the theory of Necromancy is taught, and practicing most forms is strictly forbidden.
- Kenetics - Kenetics is the study of all magic which has a physical effect on the world, whether it is a transformation, a creation or telekinesis. These can be dangerous, so no messing about here! Teaching is one of the most varied, and multiple teachers can often teach this subject together
- Wand and Staff - Wand and Staff teaches students to channel their power through certain objects, usually a wand or a staff though it can be anything. Here basic spells are revised and brought to new strength through a helping object.
- Potions - Potions includes herbology, voodoo, and spell casting which includes a catalyst (a substance which is used up during the spell)
- Psychics - This subject is the study of using the mind to harness others knowledge, and includes premonition and dabbles occasionally in mediums.
- Science and Magic - Students have to learn the importance of Science, and how it relates (or doesn't) to their own abilities
- Medicine - Medicine is the study of healing. In the past this specified mostly in magic, but in recent years the strength of modern science has meant that it is important for students to learn both methods

Application
You can have as many characters as you like, although each character must have had at least 3 roleplays before another character is added.
You may join as either staff or a student. Copy the relevant application form and fill it in, then post it to 'Pending applications' in the applications board.
You don't need a playby, in which case you can ignore those parts of the application, but the they make things pretty.
Remember the more effort you put into your application the more you will know about your character and will be less likely to make mistakes in the future.
If you need any help finding it what bits of the code mean what, don't hesitate to ask!
Staff Applications: Positions Available - Two teachers are accepted in certain lessons, though we'd prefer if you took an empty lesson!
- Physical Education Teacher
- Ethics Teacher
- History Teacher
- Necromancy Teacher
- Kenetics Teacher
- Wand and Staff Teacher
- Potions Teacher
- Psychics Teacher
- Science and Magic Teacher
- Medicine Teacher
- Janitor
- Nurse
- Librarian

RPCs
Around the site, you may see RPCs. RPC stands for Rarely Played Character. These are characters which usually have no real significance to the school, but do have important roles in current plots such that they are worthy of having an account. Remember that RPCs are rarely around for long, and that they usually aren't just regular students at the school.
RPCs can include shop-keepers who are significantly knowledgable, or at a shop which is frequently used, parents if they are taken to the school, friends outside of the school, spirits and many other characters.
Each player has a maximum of ONE RPC account, which is for all of their RPCs. Not all posts the RPC makes may be in that account, as some may be in the player's other character's posts if it is only a couple of lines.
If you wish to have a RPC, ask an admin for special permission. Remember to clearly write before each post which RPC character you are using. RPC character do not need an application, but if you use one character on the RPC account a lot we may ask you to make them a full character and submit a full application.
