She gave a half smile, continuing to spin her pen in her hands, though she wasn't really looking at it this time. She nodded slowly, giving a quick shrug. "I'll live," she said, coldly chipper, "And if not, then I'll survive. He'll always make sure of that. Men, ey? Can't live with them, can't live without them..." she said, mostly smiling at Lily-Mae as she said the last statement.

Lily-Mae smiled at Diane and nodded her head. "Aiden just happens to be one of the good ones," she said as she stuck her tongue out at hime, "when he needs to be." She looked at Diane with sympathy. To be in love with someone who she couldn't have had to be a very difficult thing. She glanced at Aiden and than to the floor.

Aiden furrowed his eyebrows at what Diane had said. The coldness in her voice affected him more than she knew. In fact, it send chills down to his bone. He leaned back and continued to study her before Lily-Mae cut in. He raised an eyebrow and lifted his hand to tousle her hair, which made her giggle and try to push his arm away. "How is your grandmother, by the way," he asked Lily with a serious tone," I heard about what happened. With your mother." His eyes moved to her scars and than back to her bright blue eyes that looked as if in pain.

She smiled shyly and turned to Aiden, "One of the good ones? Really?" she asked, playfully doubtful. Admittedly, yes, to most people it would seem like a bad idea to mock someone you had only just met, but Diane had a strange way of bonding with people like that.
She looked between the two, aware that there was some deep thing going between them, and suddenly being afraid of just being at the same table. She leaned back, politely keeping out of their way and trying to not let herself be noticed.

Lily-Mae tensed. She felt the pit of her stomach tighten. Even just the mention of the word mother, made her feel sick. She felt like the wind had been knocked out of her and it took a few minutes before she could speak. "My grandmother is fine," she said in an emotionless tone, which matched her face. She didn't look Diane, or Aiden as she spoke. Instead, she gazed out the window, leaving an awkward silence that she knew Aiden would fill.

Aiden smiled as he stuck his tongue out at Diane, "She said when I need to be." He smiled at himself, realizing he probably sounded like and looked like a child. He liked that she was daring with her words. She had taken a risk on whether or not he would be offended by this.
Aiden hide his left hand as he took in what Lily-Mae was feeling. This made him grip the side of the chair with his left hand. It was such a strong emotion. It was an infinite pain, burning anger and than nothing. It happened so fast that he had to hold his breath for a moment after it. Even though the emotions were now long gone, he could still feel it. He knew that he could only feel a part of the emotion and could only imagine what the full emotion was that she was feeling. "You are enough to drain a half empath in five seconds," he said under his breath.

She looked between the two, not quite understanding what was going on, but she'd been around an empath long enough to see the signs. "You're an empath too?" she said, feeling her heart sinking. Typical; the only men that ever seemed to be around her seemed to always pry their way into her head.

Aiden frowned as he looked back at Diane, "Half Empath actually. I can feel your feelings more so than I can get into your head. too much effort for that for me." He glanced at Lily-Mae than back to Diane. He brought his left hand back onto his lap and relaxed slightly. He tried to make himself more at ease so that Diane couldn't tell.

She chewed her bottom lip - a habit she had copied from Mayu without even realising. "That makes sense," she said, nodding slowly, "Makes more sense then Antosha's, really. Empathy is just feeling other peoples feelings... I've always suspected Antosha is just Physically Sympathetic." she said with a smile, and looked up at Aiden. Aaaand once again she had brought the conversation back to Antosha, and ruined what seemed to be an awkward moment between Aiden and Lily-Mae. She wasn't having a good day.

"Guys I really have to go get this potions packet done," Lily-Mae said as she slid off the table easily landing on her feet. Her hand reached for the potions book. "I will see you guys later," she said with a small smile. She waved and walked away, trying to put more pep in her step. She didn't like feeling empty, but it was something that was inevitable.

She turned, suddenly feeling very guilty in case she had felt like she had accidentally pushed the girl away. "Uh, OK. I'll see you later!" waving at her as she left, leaning back and watching her leave, trying to find some sign that she hadn't caused that.

Aided waved good bye to Lily-Mae and turned back to Diane. He would have to check on her later and see what really happened between her and her mother. He listened to Diane's words, carefully. Again, she had brought the conversation back to Antosha. He replied sympathetically, "You really do love him, don't you." His eyes were soft as he said this, showing that he understood how she was feeling, for obvious reasons. "If you ever need anyone to talk to, or anyone to just be there for you," he said in a soft voice, "I am here."

She smiled, touched by the unexpected niceness. "Thanks," she said, feeling herself suddenly self-conscious in front of him. So, maybe he was one of the good guys after all? "I'll manage, honest. This is something I just need to work through, but thank you," she said, suddenly realising that she was so taken aback she couldn't stop smiling, and she put her hand to her mouth, "You've got me all embarrassed now!" she joked, looking up to the ceiling as she tried to control herself.

Aiden let out a laugh. He liked seeing her smile and be happy. He reached into his pocket and picked up an extra pencil Diane had out. He scribbled his name and phone number onto the paper. It was neat cursive writing and had a smiley face after his name. Sliding the small piece of paper and her pencil back to Diane. "I have class in like five minutes," he said as he rose to his feet, still having a smile on his face, "text me if want later." Walking past her, he gave her shoulders a small rub, than he waved and left the library.

She looked down at his handwriting, smiling shyly and trying to ignore the fact that a guy - that most would consider attractive - was giving him her phone number. "Wow, you have lush handwriting..." she said offtopic, smiling up at him. When he was gone, she leaned back. So, who said that the woman should be the one to give the number? She blushed, realising that it wasn't intended in that way, but taking it as a victory anyway. Quickly she grabbed her phone and texted Antosha; 'Straight. Definitely straight. Good to have a decent one on the home team ' It was suggestive and playful, but it felt odd to text it to him. Would he be jealous? she wondered. She closed up her phone, and turned back to her doodles. -fini-
