Mayu sighed, slinging her bag over her shoulder, wincing. The bruising was still just as bad as before, only now she had an extra cut on her left cheek from a girl's nails. Who knew those things could be so dangerous? She was headed for the boy's couch, knowing the room would be emptier at three in the morning. When she reached the door and opened it, it creaked, as if letting the world know someone was entering the building.
She smiled to herself and hastily lit the fireplace to give the room warmth, sitting on the biggest and nicest couch in the room. Mayu flung her blanket onto it, adding her pillow near the arm. She'd crash her and head out in the morning, sure she had a place at Lily-Mae's, but that one girl was still after her. With a groan, mostly form the couch, Mayu lowered herself down and snuggled under the blanket, closing her eyes firmly. An arm slipped out from under the blanket, exposing those bruises along with the hand prints already on her neck.

Melville was up early, as per usual, but this morning was even more crucial. He had tried to hit his room mate the night before, and was keen to make sure that he was out of the room at some ridiculously small hour, to avoid any arguments or any more fighting. He slipped out of his bed, pulling on his tracksuit as quickly and quietly as he could as he could, slipping out of the room.
He stepped down the stairs quickly; he had always had more then enough energy in the morning, and it was lucky to be able to keep his body. Every morning he lapped the sports grounds a couple of times, never mind the weather, and made sure he ate a massive breakfast. It may have been tough, but he wouldn't have traded his lifestyle for the world.
He walked into the main room, when the flickering of the fire caught his eye. He checked his watch, seeing it was far too early for anyone to be up, and walked around to the sofa. He took in a deep breath, his eyes widening. "Mayu?" he said, shock making his voice louder then he'd expected it to be. He walked to her side, perching haphazardly on the edge of the sofa, looking at her and all of her bruises, each one feeling like it was tearing through his own skin. "Mayu..." he whispered, brushing the back of his hand across her cheek.

Mayu blinked, feeling someone touch her skin. She cast her glaze along the room nervously, glad to see it was only Melville. "Hey, what are you doing up?" she asked, turning back to her usual chipper self. She knew it must still be close to three, so no reasonable person would be up. Mayu sat up, moving over to make room on the couch for Melville to slid in.

Melville slid further in, but there still wasn't a lot of room. He didn't want to get to close in case he accidently over-stepped his boundaries. But right now, that wasn't what he was concerned with; "Mayu..." he said, softly running the back of his hand around her, pulling it away as it reached the bruises, his eyes filled with sadness suddenly flooding into anger. "Mayu, who did this to you? I don't care who or how many I swear to God they will pay."

Mayu looked away, biting her lip softly. It wasn't as if she knew the people, the 'attack' was more of a hit and run then anything personal, could be a warning to Melville though. She sighed, looking back at him, wanting to be able to touch him. But it seemed like he didn't want to, so she wouldn't either. "I don't know." Mayu said truthfully, shrugging her shoulders slightly.

He found himself pulling away, not able to even look at her. He was feeling angry, dangerous, and he wasn't sure if he wanted her to see him like that. "If you're covering for them..." he said, shaking his head and looking into the dying fire. "Can you not even show me what they looked like? Point them out to me?" he asked, desperate. All he knew was fighting, and now something was wrong he felt weak without being able to retaliate.

She sighed, closing her eyes to try and picture them better. "Two guys, blond hair brown eyes on one. He looked fairly muscular, maybe trains a lot? The other guy was weaker, but had a killer left kick, possible karate in past. Black hair with blue eyes for him." she said meekly, opening her eyes again to look at Melville. "That help?" she asked, reaching for the blanket to warm herself up. With a tiny flicker of her wrist she brought the fire back up to keep the room lit, and to try and warm up again.

He looked into the fire, trying to think if there were any boys that matched that description. There were a few that did, but only two of them worked together. "Yeah..." he said absently. Even if it wasn't them, he would use them to send the message through to the rest of the school. It didn't matter what happened to him, but Mayu was different.
He looked at her, and looked down, pulling himself closer. It was hard for him to watch as she was so hurt. "So... why are you here? Did Dia kick you out?" he asked softly.

She sighed, looking at him. It was alright that he was here, but he really didn't have to treat her so gently, the bruises would heal in a couple of days. Possibly less if she could ever work out that healing spell, or if she asked Ms Theresa. "Nah, I kicked myself out." Mayu smiled at him, knowing he wouldn't see since he refused to look at her. Not that he was at fault here, but it would be nice if he didn't make it so totally obvious.

He looked at her quickly, seeing her smiling, but hearing it more in her voice. "Kicked yourself out?" he asked, watching her closely. "Mayu... why? She should be the one out of a room, not you..." he told her, scooting closer up to her in the couch and bringing his face closer to hers, "Why didn't you tell me? You know you can always stay at mine. Salem's not going to mind," he told her.

Mayu shook her head, keeping the smile painted on her face. "Nope, not wanting to worry you. Lily-Mae let me crash in her room, so did Anto, but it's alright. Thinking about asking Ms Jackson for another room." she said, not wanting him to worry. It wasn't a complete lie, but then again she didn't mention the fact she sneaked out of both rooms in the dead of night to sleep on a couch.

He wanted to hold her so badly, but he was so afraid of hurting her. Instead, he took her hand in his, which was slightly awkward since he couldn't actually feel her hand in his hardened grip. "You really should. You can't stay here, you'll never get any sleep." he said, watching her with concerned eyes.

"I really should what?" Mayu asked, slightly confused about what he was on about. Stay with him, or did he mean to ask for Ms Jackson for a new room? She sighed, wishing he would just hug her or something, anything so she would know he cared. But it didn't matter, he couldn't be expected to know what she wanted, so it was a pointless thing to hope for.

He smiled and shrugged uncomfortably, "Do... something." he said, not sure which piece of advise she should take. "Ask Ms Jackson. You can't stay out here forever, and as much as I'd love you to, you can't stay at mine all the time either... I don't think I'd ever be able to leave in the mornings," he said, looking down at her hand in his and raising it to his lips, kissing it suggestively.

She smiled shyly, shrugging her shoulders at the comments. "OK, I'll ask her. But now, I can still visit you can't I?" Mayu asked, pleading at him with her eyes. Not that she didn't know the answer, he had better let her come over, or she might have to cry. But that didn't solve the problem of tonight, but she would probably just sleep here then go talk to Ms Jackson.
