On Brendans bed sat an insanely large teddy bear, and three dozen roses, all bunched together with a large red ribbon. And since she didnt like chocolate, he had gotten her a gallon of coffee flavored ice cream, but that was in his mini fridge. He was sitting on the other end of his bed, plucking at his guitar, not caring if he was just making odd noises. He wasnt out to impress anybody.
He began playing a tune, his fingers caressing the instrument as he played.
"I remember what you wore on the first date. You came into my life and I thought, Hey, You know, this could be something..." He sang. "'Cause everything you do and words you say, you know that it all takes my breath away. And now Im left with nothing..."

Diane walked forwards through the corridors quickly, breathing quickly. What more surprise could there be? She was worried that he would do something amazing to outstand her and make her feel small and worthless compared to him. She would adore the attention, but feel guilt that she could never do anything as well. She didn't have money, barely had time, and lacked the creativeness to pull anything like that off.
She walked to the outside of his door, ready to knock as she heard a faint noise from behind it. She pressed her ear to the door, closing her eyes as her heart melted to his singing. She smiled to herself as she pulled back, and knocked on the door softly.

"Its open!" He yelled, too lazy to get up. Besides, he knew it was Diane. And didnt expect to get anything. "IF YOU GOT ME ANYTHING, LEAVE IT OUTSIDE! I told you not to get anything."
He smirked a bit and continued to pluck at his guitar. He was kidding with her, but he knew she would probably take it entirely too seriously.
"Hey, beautiful." He smiled as she walked in, setting his guitar down.

Diane smiled and opened the door slowly, looking into the room like a child on Christmas morning. She smiled widely, stepping through and putting down an enveloped card on his table, trying to pay it as little attention as possible so that he wouldn't be offended that she'd at least done something. "Hey, sweety," she said, walking over beside him and kissing him softly on his cheek.
Her eyes scanned over to the bed, widening a little as she saw the extreme display of valentines day in its splendor. "Aws, I didn't realise you were going to tell me about your secret girlfriend today!" she giggled, still not quite able to believe that it was real.

Brendan smiled. "I know, right? Shes pretty damn awesome. Hot as hell too."
He pulled a small box out from under his pillow and got down on one knee. He opened the box, a beautiful white gold ring with a diamond in the middle, and emeralds on either side was nestled inside the box. It shimmered in the light, throwing flecks of light on the walls and roof.
"Diane? Will you marry me?" He asked, looking up at her, his teeth bared down into his lip. And even though she had already said yes, she could have always changed her mind.

Diane smiled. A thousand jokes span through her head as she saw him going down onto one knee, pretending to have to question it, pretending to say no... but as he asked the question, she found herself completely powerless but to instantly nod, speechless as she took the ring, her eyes glimmering at its beauty. It was perfect. "Yes, yes, Brendan!" she said, suddenly realising that she hadn't actually said those words.
She laughed, looking down at the ring in her hands , shaking her head. "Uh... which hand does it go on again?!" she asked him, passing it back for him to slide onto a finger, completely flustered by the whole moment.

"Left hand, ring finger." He murmured, standing and slipping it easily onto her finger. He placed a gentle kiss on her lips, then pulled away quickly, feeling like a stranger in his own body. He wondered vaugely if this was some sort of joke that she just kept going along with. And that once at the alter with her, she would laugh in his face, throw the ring at him and walk out, that wide grin on her face she had alot when she was possessed.
"Happy Valentines Day, Diane. Ice creams in the mini fridge." He said with a fake smile as he crawled back onto his side of the bed, pulling his guitar back into his lap. He began strumming on his guitar again, this time a diffrent song.
"Sometimes I wonder how Id ever make it through - through this world with out having you. I just wouldnt have a clue. And sometimes it seems like this worlds closing in on me. And theres no way of breaking free. And then I see you reach for me. Sometimes I wanna give up - wanna give in - wanna quit the fight. And then I see you, baby, and everythings alright. Everythings alright.."

Diane laughed, as she slid herself away from him, moving over to the fridge, "Baby, you know this seriously is all waaaay too much," she said with a blush. No one had ever given her this much attention before, unless they wanted something from her. She opened the fridge door, her eyes widening slightly as she saw the ice cream - more than she could ever manage. "Brendan, you're going to make me the size of a house!" she said with a smile, closing the fridge door.
She climbed behind him, wrapping her arms around him. Yes, she wanted ice cream, but it was more important to just appreciate him now. She managed to wrap her arms around him while he still held onto the guitar, kissing his neck and paying no mind if he was distracted or not. She was used to playing second best in her home whenever her father took the guitar - it seemed to take a lot of concentration, and as sweet as she found the music, she didn't quite understand the appeal. "I love you baby..." she whispered, kissing his neck again distractingly, "You're far too good for me..."

"Maybe its just that you havent been treated right." He said, tipping his head to the side a bit as he felt her lips trailing his skin. He wanted her so badly, but he had made a promise he wouldnt take her.
"Diane, lets wait.. Until the honeymoon.. I know weve only done anything once, but I think itll mean alot more to you, if we wait.. Ive never felt like this before. And I dont want to degrade you. Believe me. I want you. Badly. But its not about me. Or what I want. Its about you, Diane. And making you happy."
He set his guitar into the teddy bears lap, turning around to pull her into his lap. He wanted to kiss her so badly, show her love like no one ever had.
"I love you so much, Diane. And you mean everything to me. And I cant wait to have you as my bride, my wife.."

Diane smiled, continuing to kiss him softly, on the neck and the lips and whereever her lips could reach his skin. It wasn't lustful, but was certainly heading that way, but she knew her limits, and knew that she could never risk hurting him again. Her side was still sore from her tattoo, her body still bony and weak, not to mention Brendan. Diane kissed his lips softly, pulling away only slightly so that their lips hovered just above his, "I don't mind, Bren. Do what you want, I want you... in every way possible... but I don't want to hurt you, or be hurt. I don't care if its before or after the wedding, but I want to wait until we're both healthy."
She curled into his chest, resting her head against his shoulder, "I'll always be happy if you're happy, Brendan," she told him in a deep voice, "Just be happy, tell me what will make you happy, and I will be yours forever, I will be happy forever."

"Sounds good to me." He said, pulling her into a deep kiss. "Im happy as long as youre here, as long as youre mine."
He wrapped his arms around her, his lips finding their way to her neck. He kissed her skin gently, tenderly, as if she might break at any moment. He pulled her closer, putting his knees on either side of her as he wrapped her legs around his waist. He pressed to her, wanting to be as close to her as possible.
"Youre so amazing.." He whispered, holding her close.

She smiled and giggled. Brendan was happy, and so in turn she was on cloud nine, unable to stop herself from smiling widely, every moment threatening to make her laugh from joy. If there was anything more wonderful than this, she didn't want to know about it. "I'm not going anywhere..." she promised.
She curled herself up into him, her fingers slipping across the creases and turns of his shirt. Was he still wrapped up in banages? Did it still hurt to hold her? She looked down, not willing to ask him, trying to push the conversation onto important matters, "Have you already told Braxy?"

Brendan stroked her cheek, shaking his head. "Braxtons been busy with school. I dont wanna bother him."
He couldnt quite think of how he would word this, phrase it. But he would give it his best shot.
"Diane. I want you to listen to me, okay? I-I dont want this being put off as another conversation.. I want you to understand. Im madly in love with you, Diane. And theres no other girl I would want to be with. And I know we started off a bit rocky, but Im ready to fix things. Ive realized that if you were going to leave me, you would have done it already. And Im not afraid of you leaving anymore. And Im proud. Proud that I finally have someone to stand by me. And that I know will back me up. And, Diane, I wouldnt trade you for anything. Youre my life, my heart, my soul. And I would never never hurt you." He kissed her gently, holding her close against his nearly healed wounds.
"I love you, Diane. More than anything."

Diane smiled widely; it had been exactly what she had wanted to hear, although it was more what she wanted to see than hear. She looked into his eyes, barely able to see them from smiling, and if there was any hint of deception there, her rosy happiness carefully covered it. "She leaned into him and kissed him on the cheek, and then rested her cheek against his, holding his chest close to hers, every breath and every heartbeat running through both of them. "I'm glad, Brendan. I'm proud of you too, and I love you. This... this is all just going so fast. I mean, I know where I want to end up, and I know with 100% certainty that this will happen... but its like realising 'hey, I wanna go to the postoffice' and instead of walking you take a-a jetplane or something," she smiled, a little embarrassed by her strange analogy. "Jetplanes are awesome, but you get some pretty freaky looks from the locals... not to mention they often leave more things to go wrong."
She pulled back, shaking her head, quickly deciding to correct herself. "What I'm saying is... I'm scared. I-I just need someone to tell me I'm making the right choice, because I know if I was anyone else I'd be thinking I was an idiot. But I don't think I'm an idiot...." she trailed off. She had the feeling that she was slowly but surely digging her own grave here. "It feels right, though I feel as though it shouldn't."

And all at once, Brendans heart shattered. It didnt simply break, or even ache, but burst into a million little pieces. He didnt think he had ever been so hurt in his life. He bit his lip, choking back tears, as physical pain began to wrack his body, possibly the work of his brother. His hand found its way to his chest, grabbing at the material. He quickly dropped his hand, the ache subsiding into anger.
YOU SOULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING, YOU FAGGOT! I TOLD YOU SHE WAS PLAYING YOU! OH YES I DID! NOW WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? YOURE LOOSING YOUR BRIDE! BETTER HURRY!
But instead of doing anything, he stood, lying Diane back against the wall. The pain was just too much to bear. She really was calling off the wedding, the day after she proposed. And Brendan just couldnt take the pain.
"You know I hate to leave a pretty girl hanging, but I really got something to do. Think I can see you later, or something?" He looked at his phone. "You know what, Im really late. Text me."
And with that, he ran out the door, tears streaming down his cheek. He banged on Braxtons door, until the mirror image opened it. Brendan began to sob, pushing his brother aside as he collapsed on his bed.
-The End-
