Grace stared at the map. The gaps between the two were getting longer, and she wondered where she would eventually end up. "The pendulum shows were they are, not where they'll be. It means she's either suddenly become two people - or more probably teleporting between the two places. So if she's getting something from the forest, or from her room, she's probably half way through doing it..." she said, walking over to Brendan's side as she tried to get him to sit up properly.
"Drink this," she ordered him, giving him one of the vials. "It'll take away all pain for a couple of hours, but it will mean that you can do damage to yourself without noticing. But you have to trust me when I say this is the safer option. Just remember to take it easy."

Brendan shook his head, not wanting to drink anything. It would take the pain away, but he was still tearing up his intestines, possibly beyond repair. He was disobeying the doctors orders, and this was the price he had to pay. By the end of the day, he was most likely going to be dead.
"Its not gonna do any good. Im still killing myself.." He mumbled, pushing away the potion. "What good a painkiller going to do if Im dead by the end of the day?"
He pulled himself up, doubling over as the pain surged through his body and brought tears to his eyes. He stood, making his way to Braxton, who he leaned on.

Grace sighed, giving the bottle to Braxton instead. "The option is always there," she said, knowing that it would probably be in safer hands with his brother.
With that, she stepped towards Brendan and Braxton, taking a few deep breaths before putting her hands together, saying ancient words as she closed her eyes, teleporting them all.
She opened her eyes quickly, looking around herself. The forest was barren, dead leaves and twigs scattered everywhere, dark and gloomy. But all of this could have been expected from the time of year that it was. Grace looked around herself quickly, noticing quickly that they were alone. "Braxton, get your cage potion ready for when she comes..." she ordered him quickly, clutching her own version of the potion.
She looked around herself quickly, feeling uncertain. It was clear they were alone; any noise would have been heard from miles around. She assumed that Diane was still in her room, but there was still an unusual feeling in the forest. The wind picked up, filling her ears with the sound of rattling leaves and... paper. She looked up, staring up at the tree where the noise was coming from, staring at the white sheet of paper with black writing too far away to read.
She lifted up her hand, and looked at it at horror, then back to the piece of paper. "It's a trap..." Grace said under her breath, lowering her hand, "Its a Kanjico Scroll. Our magic is useless - and I assume hers isn't," she said, fear filling her voice as she heard more rustling paper far away, dotted randomly on other trees.
Fear would have clenched her even further if she knew what lay half-hidden only a few meters away.

Braxton had is potion in hand as he helped his brother to lean against a tree. He was breathing heavy, but sure to recover quickly if he could lean against something. Brendan wasnt weak by any means, just exausted. Braxton saw something he assumed to be a rat, until he realized it was entirely too large to be a rodient. He walked to a small pile of leaves, obviously moved from around the space it was trying to bury. He brushed the leaves back and gasped, seeing a beautiful girl lying on the ground. He pushed her to her back, her hair falling out of her eyes and spilling onto the ground. The rest of the leaves fell off of her lifeless body. He noticed her wrists, slashed to pieces and a knife puncturing her chest where her heart was. He brushed her hair from her forehead, wondering why the girl was shirtless. Her skin was cold to the touch, she couldnt have been dead more than a day, a day and a half at the very most. She had put up a fight, who ever had attacked her would have scratches or broken bones. "Shes dead..." He whispered as memories of that dreadful night flashed before his eyes, the boy taking off his shirt and kissing him, grabbing him tightly so he wouldnt get away. Would this have happened to Braxton had he not ran? "W-whoever done this tried to do it to me.. Or theyre very close to whoever did it..." He mumbled, sitting on the ground beside Abigails cold body. He reached for the dogtags that lie between her breasts, the dogtags Abigails father had gotten made for her. Abigail Elizabeth Carondelet

Grace took in a short gasp of breath as she saw the body, trying to remember what she could. She had seen that girl before, noticed her for some reason. She was a student, she knew that much, as she looked down, "Abigail," she told them, looking at her.
Suddenly she was remembering how she had seen her at the Christmas Party, taking a slight step back. She had seen this girl, noticing her because she had been keeping an eye on Diane during the night, noticing that they had been together. "She was Diane's... ex-girlfriend," she explained quickly, looking at Brendan, and then Braxton.
"If... if something like this happened to you then its possible that this is the second person the demon has been through. It seems a little more than a coincidence that Diane would be setting this up in the same place as this. She wants us to see..." she drew in a breath, "She wants us to see she's capable of killing someone she once loved."

Braxton looked down at the girl. Diane had never mentioned having a girlfriend.. Or even being bisexual, for that matter. And knowing that Braxton was gay and Brendan was bisexual, one would assume she would be comfortable with mentioning it. But she hadnt. She hadnt even seemed interested in girls at all. Then again, Brendan never really showed interest in boys either..
"So who does that mean shes going after next? Bren?" He looked cautiously at his brother, who was now sitting on the ground, his legs crossed. How he had managed to do that by himself, Braxton didnt know. But he was glad he was getting some of his mobility back.

The was a crackling noise, as the demon's strange form of magic send a shudder through the forest as she appeared. The girl was smaller than any of them had seen her before; she had lost a lot of weight that she hadn't really had to lose in the first place. Her skin was pale and dry, her glossy red lips still cracked. It was hard to tell what was paling make-up and what was her body's losing fight. Her hair was tied back, showing off her facial tattoo and the two earrings on either ear.
In her hands she held another piece of paper, which flew out of her hand and disappeared off into the depths of some tree. She had never taken her eyes off the intruders as she stood, an angry look on her face. "All this for Brendan? Please, don't flatter him. He may start to think he's worth something...." she said, curling her lip into a sneer, "Now as much as I love the family gathering, I'm afraid I'm quite busy. So get the fuck out. I have lots of things to do, people to... do and do in."

Braxton raised an eyebrow. He hadnt believed Diane really was as cruel as Brendan had said she was, but it was obvious she was terrible. Braxton began to feel really bad for his brother, who had fallen asleep but had awoken the moment he heard her voice.
"Diane?" He had mumbled. But Braxton shook his head, walking over to his brother.
"No.. No.. Its okay..." He brushed his brothers hair from his eyes, a motherly look on his face. "Its okay, Bren..."

Brendan had fallen asleep, the quiet and stillness of things putting him at rest. For once, there was no screaming, no nightmare. Just a blackness. He awoke quickly when he heard Diane, assuming it was the real one.
"Diane?" He mumbled, but then his brother was comforting him, mumbling 'no'. Brendans heart sank to his feet as he looked up at his brother. Something hurt as he saw the pain on his twins face. But he was sure he too had pain on his face, etched into his features whether he wanted it to show or not. He supposed if he was going to enjoy his last moments on Earth, he would at least be with his twin.

Grace felt her body stiffen as Diane walked through. She was completely different to the Diane she knew, and as soon as seeing her she almost wanted to take back her promise that Diane would survive. This demon did not treat her shell well. "Brendan, don't listen to anything that she tells you. She is trying to make you hate her, to force you to hurt Diane or hurt yourself," the teacher told him quickly, feeling helpless without her magic.
"You need to talk to Diane, Brendan. And you, Braxton. We need the real Diane." she warned them.

Brendan felt dead inside, seeing how awful Diane looked now. But still he found her beautiful. And always would. Because she was his whole life. And no matter how torn apart he was, he would always love her.
"Diane.. Diane, I love you... And I believed you when you said you did too.. And no matter what happens, Diane, Youll always be my love... I-I wouldnt want to be with anyone else... Diane, youre so perfect to me.. So amazingly perfect... I love you Diane.. I love you..."
He didnt know what to say, how to say it. But here he found himself spilling his heart out to this demon, wishing with all his might that Diane could hear him.
"Diane... I dont know how Ive made it this far without you... Youve changed my life, changed the reason I live... A-and no matter what life throws at us, Ill always be there, Diane. I always will. No matter what it takes... Youll always be my heart, my soul.. Everything I live for..."

Braxton looked at his brother, knowing he meant every word he said. With all his heart. And he knew how bad this was killing him, but he admired how he carried on while he wanted so badly to give up.
"He really loves you, Diane. He really does. And he knows you love him too. Youre all he ever talks about. Everyday. Sometimes he just wont shut up." Braxton laughed a bit. "But his ranting is about you, nonetheless. A-and he made me get out while he was in bed and get you something. A surprise for when you get home. He said it reminded him of you, like almost everything does. But he thought it was beautiful, just like you."
Braxton didnt know if he was doing what he was supposed to do, but he was trying to get Dianes attention, to get the real Diane back for his brother. If Brendan lost her, he would give up for sure. And Braxton just couldnt take that.

Diane stayed where she was for a few seconds, shivering slightly. It was hardly noticible, and all that could really be seen was the grim look on her face, her fists clenching and yet she found herself unable to move, an inner battle inside herself which was emuging no winners and no losers.
She closed her eyes tightly, turning her face away, anger boiling through her skin. "No... I've put too much into this...." she told herself, the demonic voice wavering. "I won't let you take this last victory from me!" she screamed, falling to her knees, trying desperately to remember how to teleport away, her mind spinning. "Diane doesn't-" she tried to finish with 'love you', but her throat spasmed and seized up, refusing to let her say the blatant lie. "Just go away!" she screamed desperately, "You sad pathetic-ah!"" she doubled over, feeling an unbareable pain in her stomach. Diane's pain.

Brendan leaned forward, trying to project his small, choked voice.
"Ill always love you, Diane. Nothing could ever stop that.. The way your fingers fit perfectly in mine, the way our bodies fit together so amazingly perfect.. I was made for you, Diane. When we met, the angels whispered 'perfect'... Youre so beautiful, Diane, so amazing.. I hang on your every word... The day I met you, my heart stopped.. Your beauty takes me aback, your words leave me breathless, your touch sets my body on fire.. Ive never felt this way before, Diane.. Ive never loved someone as much as I love you... Im so madly in love with you, I dont know what Im going to do with myself... Youre all I think about, all I talk about. Youre my life.. I love you.."
He was growing out of breath but he refused to let this moment pass, refused to let Diane go and ruin his life as well as hers. He knew at this point he wouldnt make it through the rest of the day, but if it set Diane free, he would die a thousand times.
"I love you, Diane."

Tears were flowing freely down Diane's cheeks. "Brendan...." she breathed, barely able to speak as she clutched her stomach. "Bren-You little freak!" the voice screamed out again, suddenly sounding like it wasn't even spoken by Diane at all. It sounded young, far younger than Diane, screeching. "We were so close! We were so close!" it spoke out again, lifting Diane's body as she stared at them with unseeing eyes, her face completely void of expression, her lips barely moving out of sync to the girls screaming. "You ruined everything, and you will always ruin everything! You want your precious Diane so much?" it sneered, "You can have whats left of her."
Diane's eyes widened, a quick gasp coming to her lips as she used her own eyes for a moment. She could feel a beating sound of blood rushing around her, a soft throbbing which she knew would turn to pain. "Brendan....?" she gasped, her eyes meeting his in the darkness before she fell down, collapsing into unconsciousness.
