It was dark outside, little light filtered through the forest's leaves. Overhead a storm was brewing, rain pouring down onto the ground. Flashes of lightening and thunder were the only sounds heard in the who place, somewhere in the middle Antosha watched his breath as he exhaled. His back was against a tree trunk, most of his body was dry thanks to the tree. He had texted Diane moments ago, telling her to come to the forest. Somehow he could tell it was time for them to talk, they needed to tell about their pasts. He figured Brynn couldn't be as messed up as they were, so he wouldn't invite him.
Minutes passed, Antosha stood there. He felt like an idiot, never telling her about Mayu. Why couldn't he do something as simple as that. He screamed once, letting his anger escape him. Turning to the tree he started punching, letting his knuckles break open in a bloody mess. He breathed normal again, sinking to the ground. Diane would be here soon, and he couldn't afford to be a mess in front of her.
Slowly and painfully he rose to his feet again, letting the rain soak him to the bone. It was a pitiful night, a perfect setting for this sort of thing. A bolt of lightning lit the forest, lighting Antosha's face up. The tears shown in his eyes, threatening to expose him. With a groan he moved back to his original position, letting the tree support all of his weight.

'The Forest? Seriously?' she thought as she trampled through the mud, tugging at the straps on her backpack which contained all of the books which Antosha had left after he'd ran out of Healing... she reminded herself that she really needed to ask him about that, but she had the feeling that she wouldn't be asking many questions. Was he mad at her? Was making her walk all the way there in the rain and mud and lightening just a way of punishing her, maybe even getting her killed?
Her jeans were black up to the knees with mud by the time she finally reached the forest. She'd known exactly where he was: There was only one place where they had ever met by the forest, and she was pretty sure he wouldn't break tradition now.
She pushed forwards, coming to stand beside him. It was too dark for her to be able to see anything but the way he was standing, and the fact he was looking a lot drier than she was. "Are you trying to kill us? You realise lightening loves trees, yeah?" she asked, trying to sound light-hearted, though she was too nervous to really sound convincing.

Antosha sighed and turned to Diane, his head bowed. "You have questions?" he assumed, keeping in his own head for once. Tonight would be about them, no mind reading, no emotional reading. Everything would be spoken and heard. Might as well get straight to the point with Diane, not that there was anything to hide. He smiled when he realized this was their spot, where they would always meet. Not that he meant to come here, he just wanted somewhere safe and away from the others.

She looked at him, momentarily stunned. There was something very... ominous about the whole situation. She felt like she had been transported into a movie or book, where the climax of the entire thing was about to happen, leaving all of the audience practically screaming at the screen or book.
She looked down, moving to under the trees where she could at least get some more shelter, taking off her bag and handing it to him. "It's your books," she told him, "You can give me the bag back later." she said. At least now she had covered her exits; whatever happened that night, they would have to meet again to get her bag back.
She looked away, trying to think of a question to ask, just one out of the huge pile she had had over the past few days. One blazed brightly in her mind; "Why didn't you tell me that you liked Brynn?"

Antosha sighed, knowing that was coming. "For one thing, you never really asked. Besides, I know how he feels about me. I didn't want you telling him, he's afraid of me, did you know that? The guy I love, yes I'm sure about that, is afraid of me. Do you know how sad that is? I didn't want you laughing at me." he explained, shaking his hair.
He hadn't meant to lie to her, but somethings were better left unknown.

She wanted the shout at him, remind him of the time in the cafeteria when he had directly spoken against him, when he had guilt-tripped her into not asking any more questions. She had no doubt that he was afraid of Ashonta -Brynn had told her that himself. But she also thought there was more to what Brynn felt...
She didn't say any of this, however, realising that now was not the time for petty arguments. Now, things turned dark. She could feel herself shaking, remembering how she had felt when she had come so close to this situation in the coffee shop. She let out a long, low breath, and asked, "How did Mayu know about who I was?"

He looked at her, this one would be more complicated. "I saw her during holiday break. She picked up one of your pictures, asking who the girl was. I had talked about you in my letters before, but hadn't sent her a picture. So I explained that was you, so when she saw you I guess she figured it out fairly quickly. I haven't told her anything bad, just that you were really nice and friendly, and that you were my friend." he answered.

She found herself blushing slightly, suddenly glad of the low light, even if he could probably hear all of her thoughts right now. She took a step closer to him, and then another. She was finally almost face to face with him, and she was shivering in the darkness, flinching every time a bolt of lightening threw them into light for a moment. She tried to see his face through the darkness, knowing that her silent judging was probably a little frightening to him, but she didn't care. She knew that, if she wanted, she could kiss him right then, and there'd be nothing he could do. In one motion, their lives could be changed forever.
She resisted, however, closing her eyes tightly and taking him in her arms, curling up to his shoulder. "I hate fighting," she told him, "I hate feeling like I've lost you, and I hate that I feel that everything you do is hidden from me. I understand why, but I still can't help but feel like something... snapped." her eyes were wide, staring into the empty part and watching the lonely silhouetted swing wave wildly in the wind, her hug feeling like she might as well have been holding the tree.

Antosha stiffened, then relaxed his body. He could easily tell what she wanted, or was thinking about for the most part. Maybe he should, after all Diane made him question his choice in partners sometimes. Wrapping one of his arms around her he pulled her closer, making it so she was hugging a person. He lied, he would use his mind reading abilities, but he wouldn't tell her.
It was a moment, here they both were in a empty park, just the two of them. It felt like one of those scenes from the movies, the one where the guy ended up kissing the girl. Maybe he should, you know, complete the movie scene. If only for Hollywood's sake. He smiled shyly, glad she couldn't see his face in the pale light. He gently reached under her chin gently guiding her head so her face turned towards him. Sure, it was cheesy, but hey it got her to face him. He moved his face closer to hers, till their lips were only inches apart.
He kissed her, sweetly at first. As it went on he began to feel a deeper sense of urgency, lust almost. He pulled away, not wanting it to go farther then it already had.

She found herself completely helpless to him at this moment; it was as if all of the voices that were screaming at her (and there were a lot) were suddenly hidden behind inside an air tight box. All that was left was his eyes, watching her, luring her into the sweet mistake...
Her body was shaking, and she couldn't help her lips from shivering under his. She tried to keep them still, but soon discovered that once she had calmed the chills of her body, her lips were continuing, dancing with their new partners, enjoying the rare moment of bliss. She began to finally close her eyes, giving in... When he pulled away. Her eyes sprang back open, her whole body taking a step back. Every cell in her body was devoid of emotion, screaming from behind thick glass 'WTF?!'. Diane herself was paralyzed however, not wanting to make the first move and break the fragile moment.

He had felt her, almost as if every nerve in his body had been lit on fire. It had ended much to soon, he wanted it back. He pulled her tighter, feeling as confused as ever. He shivered, nothing made sense. He wasn't suppose to like girls, yet Diane made him feel.. Alive. He struggled with a secret war, cut in half by his own feelings. Part of him told him it was a bad idea, that he should take it all back. But that voice was so quiet compared to the one screaming at him to kiss her again. He wanted her back, wanted to feel her body pressed to his, their ragged breaths the only sound to be heard.
Maybe he shouldn't have done that, Diane seemed to resent it with every cell in her body. Antosha closed his eyes, feeling the hot tears run down his cheeks. His feelings for her weren't suppose to go past this, he couldn't love her. Yet somehow, every part of his being was screaming at him that he needed her. She could complete him in ways Brynn couldn't even begin to touch.

She found herself still in a trance, unable to control herself as Antosha dragged her closer. Pull away, pull away said a small voice which had finally escaped, though it was lost on Diane. There was no conscious person inside of her to listen to the voice. She could feel Antosha beside her, the only warmth in this whole place, almost feeling his heart. Curious, she moved forward still, putting her hand on her heart and listening to its fast beat. Her hand slid up, moving to her face as she cupped his face in her hand. "Why are you crying?" she asked, all emotion in her voice virtually undetectable except for concern, as she looked on him with kindly eyes, waiting for the next bolt to light up his face again. She could feel how cold and damp his cheeks were, gently stroking it with her hand to wipe it all away.

Antosha looked at her, unable to stop the traitor tears from falling. "I shouldn't have, I did.. Oh god, why did I like it?" he sobbed. He wasn't expecting an answer, it was more to himself then anyone.
The rain was letting up, a good sign that time was dragging on. Antosha shuddered, wondering how a girl could make him feel this way. He was glad she hadn't moved away, for the warmth she could provide to him. He didn't want to use her, but right now she was all he had. Antosha clung to her, as if she was the lifeline keeping him tethered to this measly Earth.

Diane looked at him, and then looked down, her thoughts one by one moving back into their home inside her mind, and they weren't too happy about being thrown out. What are you doing? You told Brynn that he had a chance, you're going to throw away that friendship so quickly? one blurted out. She curled into his shoulder again, keeping her arms around him and holding him tightly, not realising that he was doing the same to her for the exact same reason.
She looked back into the darkness, staring once more at the swing. It was starting to become lighter, and she could see it clearly; it hadn't been silhouetted, but it had been jet black all along. She stared, her eyes too wide to possibly have any chance of closing. "Shhh... It'll be OK." she said, though she wasn't sure who she was saying it to.
Three words burnt her mind over and over in responce to his words; Why didn't I?

Antosha shook his head, pulling his arms away from her. He couldn't believe it, but at the same time he could. He shouldn't have kissed her, shouldn't have hoped for so much. He was better of with Brynn, the guy who didn't even know how he felt. It was fine, really it was. No girl would ever want to be kissed by him, he doubted any guy ever would either. Maybe he should just stop wishing for love, stop trying.
How could her thoughts effect him so much? It was like someone had just slapped him in the face. Wake up for Antosha, time to stop dreaming.
