She looked at his sudden withdrawal, suddenly realising that without his arms she was cold and alone. The lifeline had been broken, and she felt like she was falling. She couldn't lose Antosha, not like this, "Antosha... I'm sorry..." she tried to say, but she'd doubt he'd listen. She'd done exactly what she'd done to herself; she made him question who he really was, made him come so close to achieving everything he had ever wanted and then slapped reality straight into his face. "I really am so sorry..." she said, feeling her eyes beginning to well up, though there had been enough tears for one day. "Please don't leave me," she said suddenly, in case he decided now was a good time to cut his losses. Strangely, when she said it it was as if they had been going out for years, and she was the one in love, "Please, I need you..."

He looked at her, trying to hide the hurt he felt. "Don't be. It's my fault, I shouldn't have tried." he said, trying to sound calm. The emotion fell flat, his voice breaking as he spoke. It was pointless, everything was. Brynn would never love him and Diane didn't feel right when they had kissed. Maybe he should just go out with Mayu, everything would be simpler. He'd be alone and no one would ever bother him about it.

Diane shook her head, barely able to see from the water that glazed her eyes, some of it escaping in tiny tears that ran down her face, "No, you don't understand," she said, walking over to him and taking his hand in hers, "I do feel it, I do." she told him, holding his hand with both of hers, almost unable to think of a complete sentences. Well, as the saying goes, actions speak louder than words.
She moved forward to him, taking another kiss from him lips. It was a small peck, just to take him unawares, and before he could react. She smiled; his lips had felt so soft, and she had felt the spark that she had needed so badly. She was almost laughing with happiness that the first time had been a glitch. She leant in again, kissing him slower this time, tracing his lips with her own, feeling the encore begin.

He responded, almost instantly, to Diane's kiss. It was soft, almost a goodbye kiss, a sad little thing. Then she kissed him again, making him almost smile. If only his lips weren't so busy, he would have. He wished for a moment where they didn't have to be in control, a moment where he would be able to pull her closer. But he couldn't, for fear of Diane leaving. His fear leeching away, he could almost hear his inner demons showing him what he could do. Suddenly he wanted to, the ability to taste her, to do things he would never have dreamed of with any other girl.
It scared him, the way De could turn him straight so easily, like she wasn't even trying. It was taking all his willpower not to do anything more to her, it was after all, her kiss. She was in control of what happened.

She jumped back suddenly, her eyes widened and her skin quickly draining of all of its rosie tint. She was breathing deeply, a shiver flowing through her entire body that wasn't going away that easily. She looked up at him, sheer panic in her eyes. What had happened to her? A panic-attack mid kiss? Her breathing, her pulse, the insane feeling to fight or run consuming her mind all seemed to point to it, but it didn't make any sense. She was just trying to enjoy herself. Now, she wanted nothing more than to collapse into the ground and cry, try and regain some strength.
What the hell is wrong with me? she asked, looking at Antosha with wide eyes, still panting. "I'm so sorry..." she said again, but this time it was with a different purpose. She wasn't coming towards him, but stepping back from him, tears now falling from her eyes as she chanted her apology, her voice slowly disappearing into the panting.
She took as many steps backwards as she dared without bumping into something, before she finally turned away from him, rushing back to FMS as quickly as she could manage.

It took Antosha all of five second to register what Diane had said. He wished it could have been anything but this, anything. Without a second thought he ran after her, easily catching up with her even though she had a head start. "Wait." he said, grabbing her gently by the wrist. Using her speed as momentum he picked her up, cradling her in his arms. He wasn't ready for her to leave, even though someday she would have to. "What's going on?" he asked in utter confusion.

She was still breathing heavily, though in Antosha's arms she suddenly felt calm again. She wasn't even afraid as he picked her up - she knew now that she would be the one Antosha would always catch. Her breathing calmed, and she knocked her head against his arm repeatedly, trying to drill inside how stupid her choice was. She should have known he'd follow, and she should have known that she'd have to explain what little she knew.
"I don't know," she said, her voice muffled by his shirt. "I just-" she lifted her head, so quickly that she suddenly became light-headed. "I just felt... drained. Like something was taking something... and I felt nothing." she stared forwards, hardly able to believe her own words. "How could I feel nothing? I feel this, I feel love..." she said shaking her head. "I paniced."

Antosha nodded, trying to understand. "Do you need to do go the Infirmary?" he asked, wondering if she was ill. Could he have taken her energy? It didn't seem possible but it was the only solution. He wondered briefly if he should set her down, deciding against it as the lightening overhead flashed again. Without warning the sky broke open, pouring rain down onto them.

She looked up as the lightening struck once again, her eyes filling with rain as she looked up. She looked down, squinting and covering her eyes again. "Being inside probably wouldn't be a bad idea." she said, gesturing for him to put her down again. She felt faint, but she had felt much worse before, "I'll pass on the Infirmary, though." she said, smiling weakly as she ran back to the forest, returning running (at about half the speed) with the bag full of Antosha's books. She handed him the bag, telling him, "I'll be fine, I just need to get inside, get some sleep, get everything in check..."

Antosha nodded, feeling as numb as before. Tonight had done nothing but cause more problems. Maybe they shouldn't have even met, it would have been better that way.

She watched him carefully, trying to find out exactly what he was feeling from the brief glances she got of his face. She didn't really need these though; she could tell by his posture, his dark silhouette shifting in the shadows. He was upset - you didn't need to be an empath to tell that, though she was feeling her fair share of natural empathy towards him. She didn't say anything, knowing there was nothing she could say, only leading him on towards the school. She didn't want to tell him that things were alright, and that things would be different or even that they would go back to the way they were; she didn't know what would happen, but it felt cold down her neck when she merely thought of the future, as she instinctively held onto her arms tightly, the picture of the butterflies still burning in her mind.
She walked on, trying to make sense of her thoughts. A kiss was meant to be the ultimate decider, the make or break situation of how the affection was shared. She hadn't expected any of this, and she definitely hadn't foreseen that she would be the one to turn away from a kiss. "All I need is a cup of tea - peppermint tea, make that - and some time to myself," she spoke aloud, fairly sure that he had been listening into her inner monologue anyway.

Antosha nodded, pulling the bag over his shoulder. He still felt numb, his mind was blank for once. It was confusing, she had wanted to kiss him, he had heard it. But then, when he did, she pulled away. What was the point in that? Nothing would be the way it should be. He sighed, knowing he would have to stick with Brynn. "Bye then." he mumbled, moving away from her. He almost wanted to kiss her cheek, like he would have done if it had been a normal day. Yet, he knew he couldn't. Another bold of lightening lit the area, bathing them in a pink light. Antosha turned to, leaving Diane alone. The only sound left was the rain beating down on the ground.
