Mayu leaned against the swing, pushing it softly with her feet. Her outfit was much warmer then last time, though her hair was pulled up into pigtails rather then a ponytail. Though she wouldn't admit to it, she was bored. Waiting for Melville was never a fun part, once he got here however was awesome indeed. She sighed, walking across the crunching snow till she reached a tree.
Mayu grabbed onto the first branch, pulling herself up easily. After that she just kept climbing, heading up as far as the tree would let her. From her she would be able to tell when Melville was near. She smiled at her own cleverness and leaned against the trunk, shivering as the bitter wind hit her.

Diane was wearing her usual warm coat with the furry collar; she rarely took it off, even in the warmest of days, and it was days like this that she was thankful of it. It had been colder, but it had also been a lot warmer.
She walked, side by side with Lily-Mae, walking towards the forest so that they could use their teleportation again and get back to the school. She didn't notice Mayu for a long time, then suddenly looked up from her conversation, waving at her and frowning, wondering what she was doing there.

Lily-Mae wore a simple black peacoat, dark jeans and black boots that stopped just above her knees. She had been telling Diane another one of her terrible potion stories. Her face was numb to the cold. In fact, her whole body was. She looked up and waved at Mayu as well. She was thankful that she had roommates now.

Melville was pacing through his room, wondering exactly what he was going to say or do. He had never been nervous for a date before, but then again he had never really had a date before Mayu. Before he had never had anything to lose; his dignity had long since been lost. And now, he faced losing everything with one wrong move.
Less thinking, more doing, he told himself, and so with a few short words, teleported himself to where she had asked, finding himself staring right at Diane. His heart beat fast, and he looked around him quickly, finding that Mayu was behind him, watching over his every move. Fury washed over him, and he felt adrenalline run through his veins. He wouldn't hurt Diane, but he would expose her for the bitch that he saw in her. He clutched his hands, already feeling one of them ache in a familiar way. "What are you doing here?" he asked, trying desperately to keep his voice cool.

Mayu stared at everyone here, her mind blank for once. She stumbled down the tree and rushed to Melville's side, knowing he was pissed. She stood absolutely still, keeping her face straight of no emotion. "What he said." she mumbled, trying to keep herself from grabbing Mel's hand for comfort. Now that De had showed up, everything had change.

She looked between Mayu and Melville, feeling her stomach twist and turn and do backflips. She could feel her hands growing hotter - so hot that she was afraid that she would burn Lily by accident. That, at the very least, told her that she was out of the Magic Protection, and that they were both free to do whatever magic they pleased. "It doesn't matter." she snapped at Melville, never once taking her eyes off him, waiting for the battle to begin. "More importantly, what are you doing? You think that dragging down my friend will better yourself?"

Lily-Mae held the same emotionless face that Mayu had. So, this was Mellvile. This was Diane's step brother. Her hands were itching with power. She held back and bottled most of it up. If he was going to hurt Diane he would have to attempt to tear through her defense. She stood next to her friend and remained quiet.

He watched Diane closely, but kept an eye around for other signs. Mayu was defending him; foolish, possibly, but he couldn't help but feel uplifted by it, even if then he found it impossible to smile. "Dragging down your friend?" he scoffed, throwing her dark looks, "You never could see past the end of your nose, could you?" he demanded, almost screaming at her. It was hard to remain cool around her, even after years of tiptoeing around the same house. And now, just like before, there were the innocent bystanders, ready to be torn apart as soon as Diane or Melville lost it.

"Lily, stand back." Mayu was almost silent, throwing up her own defenses. Spells scrolled through her head quickly, trying to take importance in her mind. Everything would be ready for whoever made the first move. She winced, wanting to move far far away from the violence. Besides, since when did De get to decide what she or Melville did?

She frowned, throwing back her own scowls and was barely able to even respond. Why was Mayu even taking his side? She wasn't used to having an even playing field; she had had her friends, Melville had had his strength and persistence, and now it was all seeming so backwards. "I know what you're like, Melville," she said, speaking only to him. "You'll chew her up and spit her out, just like you did all those other girls."
Suddenly, it wasn't really Diane that they could see; it looked like her, but her soul was pure hatred, caring very little for what had happened and what would happen, looking only for an excuse to wreak more revenge.

Lily-Mae nodded her head at Mayu and took several steps back. She let some of the power out of her hands and made an air shield around her. It was like breathing to her. If she needed to use earth, she could easily obtain it. She didn't know exactly what was going on between the half siblings, but she could feel the amount of power emitting from both of them.

Melville smiled to himself. She was acting like typical Diane, or at least the typical Diane that he always saw, and now her friends would all see it too. Her perfect world would crash down, and he would stay strong. This was the most thought he'd ever put into anything, and it was seeming to pay off.
"I'm not going to hurt her, I didn't mean to hurt any of those girls." he shouted back to her, "You were the one that destroyed every relationship I'd ever had, before it had even started."

"So, um.. Hi." Mayu said, moving over to Lily. She suddenly felt like ignoring them, it was repetitive. Shouting, yelling, you did this, you did that. Quiet boring. All she wanted was a small date with Mel, alone. Is that too much to ask for?

What am I doing, Lily-Mae thought to herself, i need to stop this. She took several steps and lodged herself in the middle of the two. She faced the trees that way her back was not turned to either one of them, which would not offend either. "It's not worth it," Lily said in a soft bell like voice, "Diane think about it. This isn't worth it."

She was about to move, to fire back another insult, when her eyes widened, something was blocking her. She physically fell back in shock, falling to the ground as she felt the energy wash out of her, no longer driven by the mad desire of death and punishment. She would have liked to say that she had been possessed, and it certainly felt like it, but she knew it was something colder than that. She looked up at Lily-Mae, and then to Mayu, repeating, "It isn't worth it...?" wondering how true it was. The hate gave her so much energy it was hard to let go.
