“Diane... Jesus Christ, you’re soaked through to the skin, hun...”
Diane looked up at her with vacant eyes, and then turned down again. They were on the side of the road, Bexi’s little black car parked up against the busy road, hazard lights blinking. She stood looking at Diane, expecting her to say something, to move or even make some acknowledgement that she recognised her. But there was nothing. Bexi looked around herself – they were several miles out of anywhere, and Diane obviously didn’t have a car. A small tag was wrapped around her wrist, telling her that she’d been a visitor at Crastyl hospital. That was at least five hours walk from where they were.
“Diane... come on...” she mothered her, taking her to her car, having to open the door and put on her seatbelt for her. It was clear something had really messed with her mind, and her autopilot was the only thing that had kept her breathing and walking.
They drove back to the school, and despite Bexi’s many hints and polite prodding, Diane did not say a word. Bexi refused to give up, the whole way vocalising everything she said in the hope that Diane would say a word.
She pulled her up to Bexi’s room, sitting her down on the bed and wrapping a towel around her, trying to dry and warm her. “Hey... come on...” she said, realising that she needed some help. Quickly, she took Diane’s phone, desperate to try and see if she could contact any of her friends.
2 New Messages from Brendan. She scanned through them quickly, replying back a message of saying how troubled Diane was. She suspected, from the sounds of the texts, he would be the last person she would want to see, and so she turned to her other contacts.
“Christ, Dia, you’ve got like no mates, do you?” she said aloud, looking through the tiny list. Since losing her phone, she had only retrieved a handful of contacts; Brendan, Braxton, Mayu, Bexi and Brynn. Brendan and Braxton were both out – if Diane wanted to pull herself deeper into what was going on that was her choice. Bexi didn’t trust Mayu with relationship troubles after she had killed herself over her boyfriend, and try as she might the number for Brynn just wasn’t working, and she was in no mood to leave a voicemail to a stranger.
So she pulled an arm tighter around Diane, passing her phone back to her and reading out the texts, waiting for the frozen girl to thaw into the painful world.

Anto looked up from his sundae, an inner bell going off in his heart, or mind. Whatever it was that held his ability to know when Diane was in trouble. "Sorry, Kyle. I gotta go, thanks for the help on the homework." he smiled, offering the small boy a hand shake before running out the door. His breath was white mist in the cold air. So what was the deal with her today? He smiled, completing the spell as he stepped trough the campus wall.
He landed next to Bexi easily, touching Diane's shoulder comfortingly. "Hey girl, don't you turn into me now." he said, sitting down beside her while stroking her hair. He had never thought it would be like this, it was always her comforting him, never the other way around. "He'll be alright, sweety... None of this is your fault." he looked at Bexi, shaking his head lightly.

Bexi stood up quickly, getting a shock from the man suddenly arriving next to her. He seemed to be a friend of some sorts, but that didn't stop her from being a little cautious. "Whoa... who are you?" she asked, wondering if she should be pulling Diane away from him or leaving them too it. At the moment, however, it seemed they needed all the help they could get. [/font]

Diane blinked as Antosha entered the room, still unable to look at him as she felt the comforting words and soft touch of his hands running across her hair. She didn't really understand what he meant about 'turning into him', but she knew he was trying to help her and something felt comfortable about him. She turned slightly towards him, her eyes falling on his scarred wrists before turning away quickly, as if the image had physically burned her.
Her phone burst to life, displaying a new message. She dully switched it on, staring at the screen for a few minutes; 'I tried to kill myself, okay? The hanging didnt work, neither did the suffocation, the drowning. Hell, I even stabbed myself. Nothing works. Whats it matter to you?'. She assumed it had been meant for Bexi, but it stung to read it, and her hand refused to either move it away or reply.

Antosha touched her forehead gently, shaking his own head. With a wince he plunged into her mind, searching through the tattered remains of her memories for the one he was looking for. He's alive, Dia. Don't deny him because of what he did. he said calmly, shifting her emotions around inside her to surface the dominate one.
Wakey wakey, Princess Dia. Don't make me kiss you. Again.
He held her close, hiding his wrists on the sides of her waist. Ant was worried that she was too far gone to rescue. With her it could go either way, and the farther she disappeared the harder it would be to get her back.

Diane stared forwards, her eyes looking around but for once actually taking in everything they were seeing. She wasn't like an icy, frozen image anymore, but like a child trapped in a curious frightening child. She looked into Antosha's eyes, a thousand emotions flashing before her eyes as the storyline of their entire relationship flashed quickly; Love, hate, friendship, trust, betrayal...
She looked at him, not sure which one to stay with. Every time she thought she'd settled on just one, the others pushed her out of the way. She turned away quickly. Life had been so much easier when she's thought Brendan had been her one and only love. Maybe she wouldn't have acted so rashly, or been so quick to propose knowing how much it could hurt. But Brendan too had betrayed her, promised her a world and taken it away from her. Her fingers flew across the phones keyboard, replying without quite realising what she was writing.

Ant paused, debating how much she had figured out by now. "Diane...?" he asked slowly, reaching out to her. The he blinked, pulling away. Why had he gotten an image of them on the bed? That could never happen, especially not if she hated him. Besides. It was her time. "Diane, let me help you..."

Diane looked around herself slowly, though she was vaguely aware of the situation already. They were alone in the bedroom, Bexi obviously having run off from the awkward silent conversation at the first opportunity. Diane was close to breaking point, if she hadn't already reached it. And it was exactly how she had wanted it, how she had dreamed so many nights of being with Antosha, the world stacked against them and closed off into their own world.
She looked down, fighting the urge to hold him. She was in a bad place, her thoughts all twisted beyond recognition, unsure of what all of the signals rushing through her mind meant. "How can you help me, Antosha?" she spoke, finally speaking since the whole incident had happened, and turning to look straight into his eyes, "How can you save me now?"

Antosha shivered, gently touching her shoulder. "You need to let someone in, Diane. Do you really think you could handle something like that alone?" his words were a little harsh, but he meant them in the nicest way possible. If he had to cross the country to come help her, then she had best be willing to accept it, even if it was from him.

Diane lowered her eyes, staring into the world. Her phone went off again, and her fingers flew across the keyboard, yet again forgetting what she had written the moment it had been sent, her fury and confusion driving her responces. "March 17th, 2007: My mother is gone, disappeared from the face of the Earth for what I can only assume was an attempt to save her family," she said coldly, as if she was talking about numbers and facts which paid little attention to her. "December 31st, 2009. Seth Melville and Mayu Nami Yoshiko die because of a spirit infatuated with me, whom I demaged into turning against my friends. January 21st, 2010. A demon takes over my body, twists my own thoughts into killing Abigail Carondelet and raping Kit Livingston. March 1st, 2010...." she stopped, for the first time emotion shaking her voice. "Brendan Reid tries to take his life because I could not help him," she looked up at Antosha, her eyes cold. "This is my breaking point."

Antosha held her arms in place firmly. "No, Diane. This is NOT your breaking point." he said firmly, voice ice cold. "The breaking point would only happen after something totally in excusable. And none of that counts!" He pinned her to the bed, forcing her to look up him. "It was yours moms choice to leave, it was MELS choice to die, MAYUs choice to follow. Damnit, Diane. The demon did all that, not you! And fuck, you read the texts! Bren has done this before! Stop blaming yourself for every thing!" he loosened his grip slightly, just in case he had hurt her.

Diane looked at her, wanting to feel anger but it was too cold to be the emotion that she was wanting. Her body shuddered, as if vibrating, and as if connected the phone vibrated again in her hands. She looked at the phone in her hands, the horrific news plastered in front of her eyes.
She stood up slowly. "Correction; March 1st, 2010. Brendan Reid dies because I failed to save him, failed to speak to him when he in need. Is that breaking point enough for you, Antosha?" she asked coldly, walking slowly back to the door, assuming in her numb mind that she would walk back to Crastyl through the rain, despite how it was more than half a days walk.

Antosha growled, grabbing her roughly by the wrist, harder then he meant to. "Don't you dare do it, Dia. I don't care if I have to tie you to the fucking bed. Your not going to do anything stupid." he snapped, pushing he back in the room and folding himself against the door. Somewhere outside the rain picked up, lightening crashed against the school power lines, plunging every room into utter darkness.
"You need to cry, idiot. Let it out. I don't want to see you go through this like ice..." he said softly, looking down in the dark. Anto sighed, knowing it would be almost impossible to convince her to stay. That there was more to life then a boy. He didn't want them to end up like his sister did.

Diane glared at him, pulling herself off him, "You'd like that, wouldn't you? If you got to tie me to the bed?" she spat at him, her voice as cold as ice. "What would be stupid, Antosha? The only stupid thing is to do nothing. All I've ever done is nothing, let the world pass me by. Everyone else fucks things up, everyone else does stupid things, and I'm always the one who pays for it while they get what they want," she told him, never once raising his voice, never once letting any hint of sadness or even anger through anything but her words. Her voice was calm and cold.
"I appreciate all you've done for me," she said, polite to the end. "I understand it is for my benefit. But for once in my life, I don't want to do the right thing. I want my chance to screw up. Maybe then things will turn out for the best."

Antosha looked up, expressionless for once. "You want to be stupid, Diane? You really want to be stupid? Then good luck." his voice was sheer ice, reaching colder then Diane could ever hope to achieve. He reached into his pocket, pulling out a small knife. The bloodstains a dark red in the darkness, silver handle black from years of mistreatment. "Be stupid. Be just like me, just like Mayu. Just like every suicidal shithead in the world. Nothing will change." he promised, clenching his hand till the cold steel broke his skin. Then he let go, the knife clattering to the ground covered in his blood.
"Show me what your made of."
