Melville lead the girl into his room, her movements slow and controlled as they always were. He was concerned, he hadn't seen her in years and was wondering why she was suddenly showing herself out of the blue. Was something wrong with her, with his Mum, or someone else? He saw a boy look at them as he let her in, Tanner, he recognised, but thought nothing of it. After all, he had never really seen her as a woman. Not like he had looked at the other girls.
The door shut lightly behind them as he watched her look around the room with mild, quiet interest. Typical Hannah, always as quiet as possible, even around those she had known for years, although she was usually a little better than this. "Hannah?" he prompted.
Hannah turned to him slowly, her large brown eyes looking at him, shaking a little as she watched him, a soft pink blush on her face. "Seth," she greeted him. She had always refused to use his preferred name.
Melville frowned. Something was wrong and she was distracting herself from it, in turn just frustrating Melville. "Hannah, what is it? What are you after?" he asked a little snappy, coming closer to her and putting a hand on each of her shoulders, shaking her to try and force the answers out of her.
Hannah frowned. She had forgotten why they hadn't gotten along perfectly over the years. But she couldn't break out of the hold, couldn't help but shiver under him. "I... thought you were dead, Seth," she told him, her voice shaking as she felt her eyes water. "We all thought you were dead and..." she lowered her head, and suddenly burst into tears.
Melville looked at her, feeling heartless and cold. He hadn't seen that coming, was that the whole reason? He didn't know, and put his arms around her carefully, more tenderly than he'd ever put his arms around anyone but Mayu. He was protecting his baby sister, protecting the only person in the world who could be as fragile as a small girl and still not something to be perused. He rested his head against hers, brushing back her hair and pulling her to his chest, her tears covered by her long brown hair covering her face.

Mayu walked down the hall quietly, head forced down as she headed to Mel. Every part of her body telling her to run, to get as far away as possible right now. But she really needed her phone, needed to tell Uncle happy birthday and to just have it by her side when that call would come. Oh course she told herself Hannah was just his sister, but something felt so wrong with it. Felt wrong everytime they ran into one of his one night stands.
She slipped into the room, forcing her eyes away from the scene. "Forgot my phone" the words tumbled out as the lamest excuse she'd ever given. Mayu grabbed one of Mel's jackets, searching through the pocket for her cell phone. Trying to blend into the wall. Willing herself to dissappear.

The girl jumped back from Melville as quickly as possible, as if his embrace had suddenly turned to electricity. She kept a wide distance, holding onto her arm uncomfortably and unable to look at any of them with her bright red blood-shot eyes. She knew she couldn't have felt so ashamed, and probably looked guilty for something she hadn't done by her reaction, but couldn't help but be embarrassed being so emotional for a stranger to see.
Melville, completely clueless, looked between the two girls, noticing them both trying to blend into the background. Something wasn't right, and he didn't understand it as per usual. "Uh, I heard your phone ringing before..." he said, looking to where he'd heard the sound coming from, picking up the phone from the beside table and passing it to Mayu.
"Mayu, this is Hannah. Hannah, Mayu." he introduced the girls quickly. "Hannah is my... Um..."
"Ex-step and half sister," Hannah filled in the blanks quietly.
"Yeah, my..." Melville paused, the workings of his brain seen to suddenly churning into action, slowly trying to make sense of the sentence. "Wait, what?" he asked slowly. "Half?" Hannah just shrugged, hoping that if she took enough steps back and didn't look at anyone for long enough then she'd just fade away.

Mayu nodded, slipping the phone into her pocket. "Sorry to.. Disturb you two. But it's Uncle's birthday so I have to call him..." She said slowly, somehow becoming quieter then Hannah. Becoming part of the background, and if Mel was trying to bring them into a conversation it was even worse. "You have two sisters?" she asked suddenly, finally looking up at her boyfriend. It seemed so wrong that she hadn't known that, then again she barely knew anything about his past so it only was natural she wouldn't know that about him.

"Oh... right, yeah, sure..." he accepted her explanation quickly.
Melville looked at Hannah, still trying to process what she could have meant by her statement, turning to Mayu and dulling trying to answer her question. "Not really. My mum and her dad have been divorced for a few years. We haven't even seen each other in ages, it's not like we're actually related..." he said slowly.
"Well..." Hannah said slowly, seeming to forget her shyness for a moment just as her eyes landed back on Mayu's for a second and her voice once again lacked conviction or confidence. "That's kind of why I'm here..." she whispered. "S-Sharon told me that.... your Dad is my real dad. I mean, usually I wouldn't put it past that little whor-" she caught her words quickly, taking in a shuddering breath as she found Melville glaring at her. "Well, she's not always been honest," she corrected very carefully. "But for once I believe it."

Mayu frowned biting on her own lip, trying to wrap her mind around their conversation. "Weeeelll, alright then.. I should probably let you two catch up since he can function now." She smiled honestly at Hannah, nose wrinkling slightly. "Have you seen her face? I swear she'd sell Mel's car if it got her more Botox..." She teased, throwing the keys onto the bed. "You left them in my room." Mayu grinned again, turning around to walk out before she could disturb them further.

Hannah giggled softly, nodding quickly at Mayu's completely true statement. "It is pretty bad," she agreed.
"Guys!" Melville snapped at the two of them quickly, angry at both of them. He got the feeling already that Hannah would be possibly joining the girls to wind him up. He rolled his eyes, walking over to Mayu and putting his arms around her, putting a kiss on her cheek. "Thanks for they keys, babe. Oh, and there's a couple of sites on your laptop for finding a house if you still want it."

Mayu looked up at him, smiling. "You broke into my laptop?" she giggled, winking over at Hannah. "You should call me sometimes, I'd love to hear anything you know about Mel. I need more stories to piss him off with." Mayu waved lightly, offering another smile. "Have fun you two, oh and Hannah? What would you think if I went blond?" she laughed, bouncing out of the room.

Melville looked confused at the words Mayu said just before she left. "Blond...?" he repeated slowly, wondering why on Earth Mayu would want to change herself blond.
Hannah smiled and nodded, understanding perfectly. "I think you look pretty enough brunette," she advised her, "I will be sure to tell you everything"
When Mayu was gone, Hannah turned to Melville again. "I like her."
"Fantastic...." Melville answered, not sure if it was for sarcasm or not.
