"With a lifetime's worth of detention, I would say no," came a voice from behind the bookshelf nearest to them. Grace Claudia-Jackson appeared beside it, a dark look on her face. Her arms were crossed, her whole body leaning against the side of the shelf, waiting for one of them to make some sort of excuse. In actual fact she'd been waiting behind that shelf almost as long as they had been in the corner - she had been in the room next to the library when she had felt a very different magical energy close by. With all of her training in Necromancy, she could tell straight away what it was, and how to find it.
She continued to stare at them, to angry to make a sound, waiting for the first move so she could blow up.

Antosha whipped his eyes open and looked at Ms Jackson. She was angry, even he could feel the emotional waves coming off her. He looked at Brynn, hoping he could make a better excuse. Antosha's mind was still rolling from the voices he had heard, they didn't answer his question but they had been pulling at the memories buried.
He spurted and tried to think of an excuse. He didn't want a lifetime detention, that shouldn't even exist. What was so wrong about practicing magic anyway? "I'm sorry Ms Jackson, it was my fault. Please don't punish Brynn for my mistake. I forced him to come, all he wanted to do was read. Please don't punish him, it was all my fault. I knew I shouldn't have but Necromancy is just too appealing to me." he said, trying save Brynn. He could stand the detention but he really didn't want Brynn stuck there too.

Brynn jumped the voices abruptly stopped and the book fell from his hand. Ms. Jackson was there and suddenly he could hear Anto's quick reply.
Please don't punish Brynn for my mistake. I forced him to come, all he wanted to do was read...
Brynn stopped him. "No, Anto's wrong...I found this book under a shelf and immediately wanted to try it I dragged him into this." Brynn said standing up holding the book out to Ms. Jackson. "Here, if you plan to keep magic away from the students you might want to lock up this book." he said looking down. "And I'll take the punishment, Anto shouldn't." Brynn said looking up to Ms.Jackson's cold features.

The boy's adoration and blind selflessness to each other was working on her last nerve, and she finally stood up straight, getting ready to scream at both of them, ignoring completely that this was a library, when Brynn mentioned the book. Her eyes widened, her anger instantly melted away as all she could do was stare at this book. She snatched it into her own hands, touching the fine black leather with the very tips of her fingers, weaving her fingers around the embossed writing. She flipped it over, and then opened the front page, seeing the words 'Grey Cloud' written in light, cursive writing in the top corner.
She snapped the book shut, muttering "B*stard," under her breath.
She looked down, suddenly aware that the boys were still looking at her, both more scared that the other would suffer punishment than the other. "Come with me," she said shortly, her voice completely devoid of emotion as she turned on her heel, not even checking if they were following.

Brynn looked at Anto in a bit of worry standing up. Ms. Jackson looked angry. More than angry. Something about that book was special, different, and made Brynn regret ever saying anything about it. He follwed Ms. Jackson to wherever she was going. The librarian was now wide awake looking at them all strangely. Brynn looked back to see if Anto was nearby.

Antosha stood quickly, still trying to think up ways for Brynn to get out of this punishment. It was for him, not Brynn. Without thinking he reached for Brynn's hand, grasping it like a lifeline. It wasn't fair to Brynn, in his opion Brynn was just to sweet to be punished in any sort of way. He bowed his head and followed Brynn and Ms Jackson to where ever they were going, keeping a light but firm grasp on Brynn's hand.

Ms Jackson walked quickly through the Lower Building, her heels never breaking in their crisp rhythm against the old wooden flooring. It soon became clearer that they were moving to the far less used areas of the building; the walls became taller, the floor turned from a highly polished wood to a dusty stone, and the corridors wound around into endless circles. Finally, she stopped in front of a large double door; unlike any other part they had seen around them, this was carefully polished so well that it was almost like a mirror. It was made of wood, with panels made of a dark Onyx.
Ms Jackson finally turned back to them, looking at them each in turn. "I will let you know something no one should. That book is a old college-level Necromancy book, and it is a priceless antique." she said, taking it in her hand and opening up the first page and showing it to them both. It was a almost empty yellow page, with 'Grey Cloud' written in the side. "This is my book. Grey Cloud was a nickname I used to make sure no one knew it was mine." she closed the book with her fingers, and moved back to the doorway.
"Behind this door lies the key to Necromancy. It is old, and unpleasant, but this room contains everything you need to learn the art safely. I can't permit you to practise this by yourself, but I can see now that if I don't allow you some freedom then you will end up in serious trouble," she said, suddenly feeling like a parent offering their child their first alcoholic drink, knowing it could be a slippery slope from then, but knowing that they would rather they started the inevitable under their watchful eye.

Antosha looked up, his eyes filled with a sudden delight. One; Ms Jackson just gave them the key to Necromancy, two; he got to study with Brynn, three; well there wasn't one but he'd come up with something. He looked at Ms Jackson, noting how she said seriously. "For real?' he asked, sounding like a child who was told Santa gave him a pony.

Brynn followed behind her hearing her heels click coldly against the floor. Worry washed through him noticing that Anto was still grabbing his wrist. The halls were getting darker. He'd never even seen this part of the school. It was a maze of halls.
Finally they reached a door. He listened closely to what she had to say. In disbelief, his mouth fell open. "R-really?" he tripped over his words looking at the door wondering what wonders lay behind it. "So will you teach us personally or what?" he asked excited to learn more about necromancy.

She looked quite upset that they had seemed so excited, but she expected no less. She gave out a short sigh, while reminding them, "You must never speak of the things inside this room. Just by opening this door I am risking the entire school." With that, the doors swung open, revealing the abandoned Necromancy room.
The room looked like something out of an old fashioned Frankenstien film. Such a thick layer of dust covered the room that it made it feel like it was all in black and white. On one side of the room was a massive chalk board, still with some illegible scratchings on it. Beside that was a huge cupboard, swinging half open to reveal the collection of bones that lay inside of it, as well as many other miscalaneous potions ingredients.
In the center of the room was nothing - just an empty space, covered in dust and lightly dressed with white and red chalk that had failed to be rubbed off properly.
At the far side of the room lay examination tables, almost exactly the same as those in Medicine, though these were far older and darker in colour, also covered in blood. There was a damp, unusual smell in the whole room, and an aura that sent a shiver even down Ms Jackson's back. She stepped through, standing in the exact center of the empty part of the room, kicking the dust and chalk lightly with her feet. "Lessons will be at 11pm on Thursday nights. I will keep the lock to this room at all times, and you take these lessons with your word that you will never attempt anything outside of them. I cannot guarentee you will be doing summonings or anything so dangerous - at least for a while, but this is my offer. Take it or leave it. And if you break the rules and attempt anything outside of this lesson, I end these lessons and report you. Understand?" she asked them both.

Antosha nodded, his wide eyes taking in everything. Though he saw Ms Jackson shiver he had no idea that the aura here could effect her. To him, it felt just like home. This looked like an advanced Necromancy classroom, maybe that's what the red chalk was for. Hadn't one of the books said they needed a pentagram to summon the dead?

Brynn peered inside the room. He felt a shiver travel down his back. Some evil things probably happened in this room. Some abominations were probably summoned. He hesitated the excitement draining from his face. Did he really want this? Brynn looked inside once more noticing the bones and bloodstains. "W..w-will we get hurt in the process of...uhm...practicing this?" he asked his voice breaking.
Maybe he shouldn't be learning this but another part of him knew this was a once in a lifetime chance that he'd need to take.

She smiled slightly at his discomfort and finally able to see that these were not neccessarily the evil creations that she had feared. They were real students, and actually afraid - or at least one of them one. "I'm glad you're afraid," she explained, "This is the whole reason why we even teach Necromancy in this school. Yes, I can't deny that there is the possibility that you will get hurt, but I can't think of safer hands that you could be in." she told them honestly, "I've been learning Necromancy for a long time. When you learn a power long enough you can feel it, and control it, even without doing anything. I can suppress the affects of most of your spells, and protect you from the rest. "I do warn you, however," she added in a grim voice, "The things you see here may possibly give you many a restless night. The first time I saw an undead I could not sleep for three nights, and even now it haunts me sometimes..." she turned very quiet, her eyes suddenly distant. "Personally, if I could go back I would tell myself it wasn't worth it, and to turn away at the first chance I had my opportunity. But that's not my choice, it's yours."

Honestly the undead factor scared him the most. "Uhm..." He didn't know. Anto would join for sure but Brynn was still hesitant. "I think..." he stopped. "I'll uhm...try it" He said still looking down unable to shake the feeling of worry from his mind. He looked at Anto wondering what his thoughts were.

Antosha smirked wildly. "When do we start?" he asked, none of the fear Ms Jackson was expecting was in his voice. The undead? They wouldn't scare him, he could already hear them whispering into his ear and pulling at his thoughts. This was where he belonged, among the undead. He glanced at Brynn and grinned, stopping short when he saw the fear across his face. Why was he scared? Why would anyone be scared? It was Necromancy, the worst of the worst. Once you master this, nothing would stop you.
