De... are you OK?
She stepped close to the edge, looking down. Just as she’d remembered, the water was splashing up to her, but tonight was worse than it had been before. It had been snowing heavily over the last few days, and the wind was high. The foamy spray left her ankles soaked just from standing there.
I don’t really trust being here
She looked up. The snow was no longer there, replaced by slushy rain, falling in heavy droplets onto her forehead. She spread out her arms, closing her eyes as she let the cold cover her, the rain running down her body, slinking in under her thick coat as the icy rain skimmed down her spine. She smiled to the sky, smiled to the wind and the rain and the chill. It was real, and calming, and painful.
DE!
A huge wave pushed its way over to the cliffside, throwing its massive weight straight over where Diane stood. She barely moved as the water approached her, smothering her.
Diane!
She pulled herself straight up, swinging around her arms in an attempt to dry them. She was soaked from head to toe, and the grass beneath her was quickly turning to mud. She smiled, and then laughed, ringing out the water from her coat and staying rooted to the spot, staring at the water with a ‘is that all you’ve got’ look.
... You-you want that, don’t you? The water...
She looked out to the water, brushing back the hair that stuck to her forehead, staring deep into the watery hell. She folded her arms loosely, as if waiting for something, thinking carefully.
Diane... I know that a lot’s been going on, but-
She smiled and blushed, the first sign she could actually hear her spirit guide. Suddenly, she looked sad, a thousand truths crashing down on her, just as she knew they would.
No... Diane, you can’t. W-why?
She smirked turning away from the edge, but only to pace around it. “All you want is life.” She told him through her thoughts. “All you want is for me to be alive so you can pretend you are.”
That’s not true! I just don’t think you’ve thought about this! Do you really think no one will care?
She gave a short laugh and shrugged through her folded arms, continuing her pacing as she looked at each edge of the coastline. Down there, a mile or so away, was Henton, where she had become trapped to Mathew in the first place, where she’d almost fallen into the freezing water. “I know people will care,” she told him silently. “But I won’t.”
T-that’s just selfish
“What do I care? Everyone else has what they want, so why shouldn’t I be able to just... take.” She said, wiping away a traitor tear.
And for what? For that guy?
She lowered her head, feeling crushed by his words, and the way he’d said them. “I-I love him,” she said, speaking out loud for the first time, though her voice was barely audible over the crashing waves. She shook her head, slipping back into silence, “But it’s not just that.”
Oh?
She rolled her eyes, turning to the other coastline, wondering where the twisted path leads to. “I-she-“ she found it hard to think, and closed her eyes tightly. “She’s really gone. My mother is dead and it’s only a matter of time before someone finds me again and doesn’t believe my story. What if they find her money? And then-“ she opened her eyes slowly, letting in the dim grey light into her dark eyes, “I hurt Abigail. I-I believe everything I said, and every step I messed up. And then Mayu and Melville... it’s only a matter of time before she learns that I did that to him. Everyone will be better without me, in the long run. I’m just a time bomb, ready to destroy every relationship my friends will ever be in.”
That’s a lame excuse...
She closed her eyes tightly, sitting down on the muddy ground, the water occasionally towering over her and soaking her even more, “I’m just so tired...” she told him slowly, staring at the muddy ground as her fingers dragged through it. “Tired of following everyone else’s lead. Tired of being pulled in all the wrong directions. Tired of-“ she bit her lip.
Tired of me?
She looked down, her hands relaxing as sorry sadness kicked in. “You hurt me,” she told him, still staring at the ground, watching as her tears fell into the mud. “You tried to kill me...”
I didn’t-!
“I don’t care!” her inner voice screamed at him, grabbing onto the grass again, “You abused me, violated me, controlled me, and stole the only two kisses I will ever have from Antosha. And every moment with you I’m terrified that you will do it again. I’m terrified of the way you sneer at him, the way you follow him and wait for me to not pay attention. You do the same with Melville. How long is it going to be before you hurt one of them?” she demanded, her tears flowing like the rain, heavy and freezing cold.
I-I....
“You can relax,” She said, letting out a bitter laugh as she suddenly stood up, a blank expression on her face. She looked almost disappointed, “I’m not going to kill myself; I’m just here to think. I just don’t care if I did,” she reassured him silently, taking one last look at the turbulent water beneath her.
There was a cracking sound. She turned, seeing the grass about a foot higher past a certain point, her eyes filling with a sudden fear. “Oh... Oh God,” she said, suddenly too afraid to move. She breathed heavily, the words spiralling around her head I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die. There was another crack, and dived forwards trying to scramble forward as the ledge she was on gave way, a terrifying scream echoing through the water, following by the ledge crashing down into the hungry water.

It's De! [/b] Antosha looked up, fear written across his face. What would Julie have to say about Diane? What was going on with her? Last time they'd talked she'd been so distraught, but never enough to do anything like this. Never to try and kill herself. The cliffs! She fell...He jumped up, books clattering to the ground. His face was torn, ice and silence broken. With a swift movement he landed himself by the cliffs, looking into the swirling waters below. Nothing could be seen, if Diane was under there then the waters had dragged her under. There! He saw the figure barely moving in the water, bobbing up and down on the sea's waves. Without a second thought he leapt in after her, fighting against the currents to reach her. It took him but a moment to reach her, but much longer to get her to shore. She's not breathing!Antosha pressed his lips to hers, trying to breath precious life back into her. No way was she going to die on him. A spark, that's all he needed, a spark. A small tap to her heart and it started again, bringing her shallow breaths of air. "De? De? Can you hear me?" his tone was gentle yet frantic. Oh my god, how did this happen?[/i][/center]

She coughed weakly, her head swaying from side to side. She could feel the cold rain tapping her lightly, though Antosha's body covered her face from the majority. She was soaked, and her body felt to heavy to move. And the pain... Her head ached, like a viscous fire blazing from her temple.
"Mm..." it was the only sound she could make, fighting the pain, fighting the darkness. It would be just so much easier to sink back to sleep.
"De? De? Can you hear me?"
She frowned, trying with new energy to fight the darkness. She couldn't make out who was speaking, and she could barely understand the words, but there was something in it that made her pull back.
She opened her eyes slowly as if they'd been superglued down. Her eyes were dry and painful, and the pain in her head jumped out at her with a vengeance. She moaned, turning away and putting her hand to her head.

Antosha sighed with relief, she was alive. "Oh my god, De.." he pulled her close, trying to be careful not to hurt her. He protected her from the rain, using his own body as a shield. He cradled her gently, rocking her back and forth in his arms.
She had him so worried, more worried then he'd ever been before. She could have died! Antosha shuddered at the thought of losing her forever. His arms tightened around her in a protective shell. Wanting to keep from dying ever again.

She tried to open her eyes again, though had to keep them almost completely closed. It was dark, and yet the little light that shone through was almost blinding her. She was shivering; all of her clothes were soaked, and her chest and head both burned painfully. "Ant...osha?" she asked, barely able to breath nevermind speak. She swallowed, letting the world come back into focus as her eyes opened more, "You... saved.... me?" she asked, gasping for breath at every other word.

"Of course I did, De. I'm always going to save you." He tried to smile, tried to fake it just for her. Antosha pushed her hair away from her face, trying to keep her alive. Tear gently streamed down his face as he realized just how close he'd been to not saving her in time. "Shh, hun. Don't try and talk." he pressed his finger against her lips, wanting her to save her energy.

She looked up at him, still feeling to weak to move especially with her clothes being heavy, but feeling more and more awake. Antosha... she thought clearly, hoping that he was listening. She didn't have the strength to send the message straight to him. Antosha why are you crying? Don't cry... she told him, her eyelids flickering from a mixture of sadness, pain and nausea.

You could have died, De. You could have died... Do you not know how much that scares me? His voice was gentle, firm, but gentle. He kept a hold of her, using elemental magics to dry off her clothes quickly. Not wanting her to suffer anymore, not wanting her in any more pain. Because of him.

She looked up at him, looking into his eyes softly, feeling her eyes stinging as they suddenly turned from dry to wet. She closed her eyes tightly, not wanting to look at him. I was so scared... she told him, keeping her eyes closed as tightly as she could, I thought it was what I wanted. I thought I wouldn't mind if it happened, but I was so scared... she thought turning her head in towards him, shuffling in as small movements as she could into him.

Antosha bit his lip, holding off the tears threatening to overflow. Please, never do that again.. Please. Diane, never scare me like that again... he held her closer, putting his forehead onto her own head. He never wanted her to leave, never wanted her to die. Nothing would ever happen to her, nothing would ever change.

"I-I didn't try..." she spoke aloud, her voice dry and cracking, though she felt that she needed to speak aloud, just to see if she could more than anything. "I tried to walk away," she told him, begging him to believe the truth with her eyes.
She pulled back away from his forehead as best she could, finding it easier to think than say My head really hurts, Antosha. Please, don't. She gritted her teeth, realising that it must have been hit pretty hard on the way down.

Antosha gently picked her up, still cradling her in his arms. He walked to the cover of a tree and kept her close, willing the rain to stop. "Of course, I'm sorry.. Do you want me to take you home?" his words were nearer silent them a whisper. But that didn't bother him, the only thing bothering him was that fact she'd been hurt. Badly.

She pressed her head against his chest even though it stung and made her mouth taste like acid, trying to sit upright and still finding it hard. Her arms could life now, as she held onto his shirt tightly, curling up like a baby, "Stay..." she said slowly, her voice breaking for a new reason.
There was something there, something so real that she could almost touch it, that drew these two together. It went beyond reason, beyond pain and happiness, stretching only to draw them back with new force like an elastic band. Perhaps it was love, but whatever it was it was too strong to question. "Don't leave me again." she said slowly, her voice shaking.

His eyes softened, her carefully as she clung to him. "I'm not going anywhere De, never again." Antosha's voice was soft, soothing, and husky as all men's should be. Why did they always have to be drawn together like this? Why did he ever let it go on this far? Why couldn't he stop? He sighed, drawing her even closer with his arms. It didn't matter now, nothing mattered now. De was safe and in his arms, nothing more could happen.

"A-and don't let me leave you," she said, her voice high pitched yet soft like a child's, "If I try to again just tell me no," she said with a small laugh, blinking as she fought the urge to sleep.
She looked up at the sky, realising that although it was dark it still was by no means late, worrying her as to why she was so tired. "Keep me awake..." she said in a voice barely heard, a little afraid. It was so warm in his arms, his body like the comfiest pillow ever created. It was so tempting just to close her eyes.
