He breathed, focusing on making the tears stop. Eventually they did, silently he wiped at his eyes to rid himself of the rest. "Sorry about that." he said, moving way from her arms. He didn't want to seem weak, not in front of her or anyone. Antosha sighed, curling himself up into a ball. He hated being weak, hated having to cry like that. Why did he have to admit to Diane that he needed Brynn. He had tried to keep that fact hidden from everyone.

She smiled softly, letting him go slowly before curling into her own ball just beside him, so that their arms touched but nothing else did. It gave him space, while letting him know she was still there for him. "It's OK." she said softly, smiling at him before looking out into the sea again, wrapping her arms tightly around herself. "We're all entitled to it once in a while." she said, speaking mostly to the water, blinking until her eyes were completely dry, so much so that they began to hurt.

He couldn't take not being able to feel anyone besides him, feeling far to alone. He wrapped his arm around her tightly, pulling her closer. His head rested on top of her's gently. "But I still shouldn't have cracked like that. Like any of this tonight." he looked out at the waters with her, seeing possibilities in front of him. Choices yet to be made, pasts colliding. He shut it down, focusing instead on the girl in his arms.

SHe smiled and blushed, looking down and though she curled into him, she tightened herself into a smaller ball. "It's no worse than I've done to you..." she said slowly, watching his eyes and tracing his gaze over to the distant horrizon, though she kept finding her eyes distracted by the deep death that lay between them and the skyline. "But please, spare the details of what happened before. I can't remember it, and I'm guessing its for a reason." she told him calmly, as if saying the sun rises every day.

He kept his eyes focused waters, not wanting to break the silence. Here he was, holding Diane, but his mind was still on Brynn. All he wanted to do now was find the boy, kiss him, and make love. But no. That was impossible. “I’m sorry.” He whispered, pulling De closer to him. Antosha knew she was trying to hide, but he simply didn’t want to let her.

She smiled, hearing his pauses more than his words and knowing exactly what - or who - was filling them. "Someone once told me that apologising was for the weak..." she said, shuffling as she curled into him, remembering that final argument with Abigail, remembering her stupid little 'British' act as she'd walked away. "I disagree." she said decidedly, loosening her grip and moving around her arms to hold onto Antosha instead, suddenly able to look up at the starts.
"You really like him, don't you?" she asked in a very matter-of-fact tone. She felt no need to say who she meant.

Antosha looked out at the sea, debating how to answer that question. “Yeah.” He said. If you stretched out the definition for ‘like’. Somehow that didn’t seem a strong enough word to describe how he felt about Brynn. Love might be more appropriate. “Why?” he asked, wondering why she would purposely bring him up.

She smiled, looking down as she was suddenly glad of how dark it was suddenly getting, though the moon shone brightly against her eyes, rippling against their darkness. "No reason," she said with a shrug. "Just need to make sure you're sure." she added, staring forwards and not daring herself to look at him. Of course she was checking the compitition, just as a corner shop would keep an eye on the looming string of highstreet supermarkets that shrouded all others in darkness.

“No competition.” He stated, more to himself then anyone. Since the dance was over and the masks were down he felt no need to continue this game. Why would he want to anyway? There was nothing to be gained from playing the game, nothing to be lost from playing it either. But he had to stop, had to run away. Nothing would ever happen between the two, it just wasn’t possible. She was a girl. He was gay. The two just didn’t mix into anything stronger.

She bit her lip, smiling and looking down. "I know..." she said slowly, before she really believed them. Her grip loosened as she took the words in. Maybe she wasn't the corner shop, but a butcher's standing in a veggitarian town.
She curled her arms around herself again. "C-can I ask you something?"

Antosha raised his eyebrow but said nothing, wondering what was on her mind. Oh wait, he already knew. “Ask it.” He said, looking down at her. So broken, she looked like a small china doll. He would have to be strong for her, have to keep it all inside for her. She was to keep safe, her and Mayu. If it really had to come down to it he would sacrifice his life for theirs. But he doubted it would come down to it.

She felt herself unintentionally pulling herself up straighter and further and further away from him. She looked at her hands, tracing her fingers and the lines on her palm, knowing that her question could ruin everything. Or at least ruin it even more.
"T-That night at the forest," although her voice shook it was clear and loud, determined "why did you kiss me?" she asked, daring eye contact for just a moment before returning to her hands. "Just... Don't lie or try to save me. I just want to know," she added quickly.

Antosha bit his lip, not wanting to think back that far. “Because you wanted me to.” He said, wondering where this was going exactly. At least he had told the truth, or part of it anyway. Yes, he had because she wanted him to. But no, that wasn’t the only reason. Part of him just plain wanted to, wanted to taste that forbidden fruit even for a second. He knew it wasn’t suppose to happen that way, not allowed to either way.

She pulled herself up, looking at him now, drowning in the memory. It was hard to remember exactly before that kiss, since it took so much of her memory, even if it wasn't her kiss. "I-I've gotta tell you, I don't remember wanting that," she said slowly, watching him carefully. "I remember wanting us. I remember wanting to connect to you again, to fix what we'd broken... At that point, I just wanted my friend back." she said, her voice ringing through the darkness clearly.

He sighed, looking away. “Yeah. Whatever. It doesn’t matter now.” He shrugged, putting it all in the past behind him. Bottle it up, forget it, leave the key inside. He smiled, a perfect way to deal with everything. The darkness swirled around, becoming a blanket to him, suffocating him while it hid his face. It became darker, and colder. But he didn’t notice, didn’t care.
