Three oh one.. three oh one.. three oh- Shaun looked up at the numbers on the door, wondering what her new friend was like. She looked down at her cast. She didnt know what color it was, but the doctor said it was black. And that she was also pregnant. But mostly that the cast was black.
She raised a hand to the door, rapping on it softly with her fingers. She had just dropped by Lesters dorm, but Ehren was home, so he had told her he would call her later. And she was fine with that.
She looked down at her feet. Had she knocked too softly?

Kit jumped up quickly, hearing the knock on the door. He vaguely was a little worried for a few moments - sometimes it was just easier to say all your problems to someone when you didn't feel like it was actually going to do anything.
He opened up the door, seeing Shaun standing in the doorway, with a cast. She was actually a lot prettier than he'd first thought, which surprised him, but he wasn't interested in that. He had enough problems with Crys and Zeke, nevermind a third.
"Shaun, right?" he asked, opening his door wider to let her in. "Come on in...." he said, quickly pulling the seat away from the computer before moving over to sit on his bed. "How are you feeling?" he asked softly, concerned. It was easier to be concerned about someone else. [/blockquote]

Shaun laughed a bit. She sat down on the floor by the door, feeling kind of out-of-place. The only dorm she had been in was her own, and it was the exact same way they had given it to her.
"Im okay, I guess.. Turns out Im having a baby.. Due December 9th.. Broke my arm in three places falling. Lester's got lead poisioning, and a few broken fingers. But other than that, I think Im okay. How are you?" She asked, fumbling with the lace at the end of her shirt. She wondered why she wore this shirt to meet a boy.
"Uhh.. I think I need a jacket." She said, walking to the door and opening it. "Would you walk with me? I.. Im kinda scared.. To be alone.." She mumbled quietly, her hand curled around the bottom of her shirt. She peeked out the door, expecting to see Ehren outside the door, waiting to attack her again.
But all she had seen was Lester. She smiled, stepping outside the door and motioning for him to come over.
"Lester! This is my new friend, Kit." She said, smiling up at him. She wrapped her good arm around him, hugging him tightly. It was sad, really. She was a good ten inches shorter than Lester. And about six inches shorter than Kit.

Lester smiled. He had wondered why Shaun was in the boys dorm. He wrapped an arm around her, kissing her forehead. He frowned a bit. She was hotter than usual.
"You feel warm.. Are you feeling sick?" He asked her, stroking her cheek as she nodded no.
"A new friend? How cool is that? Hey, man. Im Les." He told him, holding out his hand to the boy. He didnt let Shaun go, but held her close to his side, keeping her safe. He had a cast on his left hand too, a dark blue one. But it only went halfway up the forearm and covered many of his bruises.
Lester looked down at Shaun. She was barely wearing anything. And she looked like she was freezing.
"Go get a jacket, okay? Ill watch you." He told her, watching as she ran off like a little kid, eager to please. He stepped in the room a bit, hoping Ehren didnt see him.
"Sorry about that.. She looked about to freeze. I was about to hit the mall. You guys wanna come with? I was going to buy Shaun some things for her- Uhh.. Nevermind. But seriously. Wanna tag along?" He smiled at him, his hand in his pocket.

Kit smiled at Shaun as she left. Things may be going horribly wrong, but at least she had friends like Les and him to look after her. A lot worse things could happen, after all. Well, things were worse, but Kit always chose to see the hope in impossible situations. He wouldn't deny the bad things or ignore them, he would try and tackle them by focusing on the positives, pouring his heart and soul into helping everyone around him so that it was one less thing to feel bad about.
"Um, mall sounds good," he said with a polite smile. "Just let me grab some stuff, yeah?" he asked calmly.
He shook his hand back, realising with certain horror how injured he was. But then, Kit realised, that he too was hurt even if it couldn't be seen to the others. He still had bandages around his hurt ribs and shoulder. The doctors had done a very good job at healing him, though he was sure he wouldn't be doing anything strenuous for a while. "Kit, nice to meet you," he said, then turned back to his room.
Quickly he picked up the wallet on the desk, and his keys, and then turned to the strange magical item collection sprawled out across his room, picking out certain ones though most would never be able to tell any difference between some of them. He looked at Les, blushing slightly, "I'm slightly compulsive... ignore it..." he said, pushing all of the items into his deep pockets.

Lester smiled. Kit wouldnt be the first person who carried around a lot of crap. And he certianly wouldnt be the last.
"I do too. You should see the inside of my wallet. I have crap for days in there. Its sad, really." He laughed, leaning against the door frame. Something about this boy made him feel completely comfortable, and protected. He knew he would watch out for Shaun.
"Shes going through alot.. Just be easy on her, okay?" He said, looking out the door to see if she was coming. But she wasnt. He assumed she was waiting for them in her dorm. She seemed to be so paranoid lately. And he couldnt say he blamed her.
"How about we grab a bite to eat? Im starving." He laughed a bit, hearing his stomach rumble. "Ill pay."

Kit smiled; it was always good to know that he wasn't as crazy as most people made him assume. Although it still was a little strange, and Kit thought that he almost liked that. Something to be different from everyone else, help him blend in by standing out.
"Sure, I'll be easy on her," he said with a warmth, "Why wouldn't I be?" he said with a small shrug, coming out of his room and locking it quickly. He was glad that he wasn't being left alone to walk to Shaun's room, and felt bad that she had to. These were dangerous times in the school. "No, I get why you say that. There's some people who just don't care about stuff like that. Too many, recently." he sighed and shook his head, "Really not the sort of place for a baby, I'll tell you that..." he said under his breath in sadness.
He looked up, deciding that a change in topic was for the best. "Grabbing food sounds like a plan, lets meet up with Shaun and decide where to go?" he asked, eager for new ways of breaking the uncomfortable transition between stranger and friend.

Lester was a bit shocked. She had told him? She seemed to scared to tell Bexi. From what he had gathered, she thought someone would take her baby.
"She doesnt have anywhere else to go. I think she should go to the headmaster and ask him what she should do. I know its no place for a baby, but its better than where she was. Apparently she and her family were the poorest people in town." He coughed a bit, then wondered if he could be getting sick.
He opened the door to the girls dorm and stepped aside, letting Kit in first.
"I mean, not that I care or anything. She amazing once you get past the fact that shes pregnant, 16, and the poorest person at school." He knocked on her door, then waited patiently.

Shaun opened the door, looking up at Lester.
"I realized I dont have a jacket. But I changed my shirt!" She said proudly, looking down at the band tee her cousin had let her take with her.
"How much longer will it be before I cant fit in my clothes, Lester?" She asked him, stepping out of the room and taking his hand, growing scared. She couldnt get new clothes. Her aunt wouldnt give her the money. She kept looking behind her, expecting Ehren to pop up at any second. She heard her stomach growl and blushed.
"Are you hungry, Lester?" She asked him, laying her head on his arm.

Kit laughed a little in a kind, soft way, his smile so genuine and kind that it was no wonder how he had the trouble of too many throwing themselves to him. Though it was the sort of smile you'd only associate with the closest of friends, not a lover. "Why would you need to get over those things?" he asked him, "They're not exactly bad things. I mean usually I'd be more likely to be friends with the poorest girl in school then..." he trailed off, realising that he was friends with the richest girl in the school. He smiled, "OK, scratch that... The point is, that they're life experiences aren't they?"
He turned as the door opened, looking at Shaun as she spoke. "Oh, hey Shaun." he greeted quickly. "Hey, you can borrow my jacket if you want," he said, already starting to take it off for her. "I think..." he said, thinking quickly, "You start to show at five months or something?" he asked, then blushed slightly. "My sister was convinced she was pregnant for a couple of months..." he explained quickly.
It stung to move around to take off the jacket, but eventually he managed and passed it to her. "Please, don't make me put it back on," he said with a kind hint of humour in his voice.

Shaun smiled up at him, pulling the jacket closely around herself. She didnt know why she was so cold here of late. And it was beginning to bother her. She didnt like being cold, but she didnt like being hot either. She laughed, flapping the too-long jacket sleves.
"I look like a penguin, Lester!" She giggled, her eyes lighting up. She looked up at him, her hair falling in her eyes. She blushed a bit as he kissed her nose.
"I look like a penguin, Kit!" She told him, bouncing over to Kit. She poked him softly, looking up at him the way a child would look up to her father. "Im a mommy penguin."
She wrapped her arms around Lester, burrying her face in his chest. She was afraid Kit would hit her for poking him.

Kit smiled and laughed at her penguin impression, walking to her side after she had poked him and in turn rolling up each of his jacket's sleaves so that they were a more appropriate length for the small girl. And then, with a childish expression, he poked her softly on the arm back, not daring to do much but lightly brush her with the tip of his finger.
"Cute mommy penguin," he said, patting the top of her hair, not really ruffling it but more brushing it back. "Does mommy penguin want some food?" he asked, playfully patronising while they were all in such a childish, carefree mood.

Shaun laughed as her hair fell into her eyes.
"Mommy penguin is not cute!" She laughed, looking down at her hand and cast. "I have fingers!"
She giggled, poking Lester in the side, who poked her back, then kissed her cheek.
"Id love some food!" She said happily. "Can we have apples? I love apples. Theyre sweet. Or or or! Can we have... tacos? I like tacos! Or.. Hm.. What do you want?"
She looked up at Kit, smiling. She hugged him quickly and gently, kissing his cheek like Lester had kissed hers. "That means I like you!" She whispered to him, giggling.

Kit jokingly gasped as she said she had fingers, "I don't believe you!" he kidded, picking up her hand that wasn't in her cast and gasping again, "Oh wow, you're a pretty freaky looking penguin!" he laughed.
He smiled as she embraced him quickly, using all of his willpower to stop himself from wincing as she brushed against his broken ribs. He managed to keep his face straight, at least while Shaun was watching, though he was sure that Les had seen it. He hoped it didn't look like a flinch or disgust, though he was certain that was what it would have looked like. "I like you too, Shaun," he said, smiling at her warmly. "Come on, I haven't had tacos in years. Sounds like a good plan." [/blockquote]

Shaun smiled, latching onto Lester. If she had her choice, she would hold onto both of them. She felt safe with them. She fished her phone from her pocket as she felt it vibrate.
'I like you, beautiful.' The text message said. She smiled up at Lester, who was just tucking his phone into his pocket.
'I like you more!' She texted back, then put her phone in the pocket of Kits jacket. She linked her arm between his, staying close to him.
